This or that ratio...meh!  All bullsh*t!  They just want to bend over every taxpayer and there will be no spending cuts in entitlements because that is what the Free sh*t! party is all about, they die before they stop redistributing our wealth...which ought to tell you how this thing has to end...

Well no obvious "cuts" anyway.

Quote
Jim Kessler, senior vice president for policy at Third Way, a centrist Democratic think tank, thinks the most Democrats can get from tax reform is about $300 billion to $400 billion. He said negotiators can find an additional $100 billion in revenue by switching the chained-CPI formula for calculating cost-of-living increases for Social Security and other federal programs.

See, we can get another  100 Billion ( 10 Billion a year!) if we lie about inflation even more!

You see, a "Cut" in Washington means you don't get last years budget + another 6-8%. If you spend the same as you did last year, then that is a "Cut" . Therefore you need 2.4 Trillion in "cuts" over a ten year period just to keep the behemoth from growing. Got to love the bit about how they are spending money through the tax code.. as if they had collected it and gave it back with a deduction. Dems really don't think anyone changes their behavior in response - they  that getting rid of the Mortgage interest deduction would make their revenue go up - and it might , for a year or two till people adjust. But a year or two is all they are ever after.  But how many houses go into foreclosure because of it? How many more are added to the govt housing roles? All according to plan of course, but nothing that will reduce the spending or the eventual outcome.  How many others loose their disposable income and instead of buying, investing, or  hiring  hand the money over so the government can keep Joe Loser,  the non contributing zero,  housed, clothed and fed for another month, an a Democrat Govt worker employed pushing paper that produces  nothing  but another reliable Democratic voter? Since the TAXABLE ( non government) portion of GDP keeps shrinking, ever year their revenue Shrinks, while the spending grows. Its called a "Death Spiral"

Every number in that article is over ten years.  Each year we spend 1 Trillion more than we take in.  If you are calling for 4 trillion (as that Dem in the article is)  that is 500 Billion a year, leaving you with ANOTHER 500 Billion you still have to pay ( and that is at CURRENT spending - not adding 6% a year)  Of course getting an extra 500 Billion EVERY YEAR out of the private sector will mean confiscating  at least 1/2 of all income over $100K - and that is just the FEDERAL tax burden. add on 4-8% for the state and then what are you taking home? Still worth  those long 80 hour work weeks, or would you rather be home with family or enjoying hobbies?  John Galt is built into the human psyche - and it will result in less consumer spending and less production they can tax.  That in turn results in fewer jobs making those things.  Cut the military budget. Hell get rid of the entire military, end all wars, and leave us defenseless  and you get another 500 Billion a year. Congrats. You balanced the budget. Of course, now you left the entire military unemployed (and on the dole ) because there already were not enough job opportunities to go around. . and as a result they aren't spending either.  The Dems are right- cutting the govt spending suddenly and dramatically WILL ALSO be GDP and job killing.  Damned if you do. Damned if you don't, and we don't have time for a slow reversal even if it were politically feasible - which it isn't.

The Point of No Return has been reached and passed.  The Economic Apocalypse is written, in pen, on the calendar.  They will try to reschedule tier appointment with the piper as long as possible.  But like Vinny and Kneecaps, eventually he will come to you. They are now arguing about appointment dates , and paying attention to this portion of Kabuki  will not help you.

Oh, and if your are 55-59, the Governments plan is to kill you by 2028.  Or at least that is what the Social Security Budget office is planning on  You know somone told them to make the number work, so they did.. by killing off an entire age cohort.

But there are no Death Panels in Obamacare. Your useful life as a producing animal is over. Time for the Glue Factory.  I just hope they take the Democrat supports of Obamacare first. Just to show them that THEY are the little people, the useful idiots, and disabuse them of any idea that they ever belonged to the master race of elite aristocrats they voted for.

Look at figure 7  SS revenue has Peaked.

Quote
We forecast gradual gains in the combined OASI and SSDI annual net income
until peak excess between $201 and $204 billion in 2012 (Fig. 7, upper-left panel).
The annual net income then declines, and we estimate negative net income starting
between 2023 and 2024

Except it actually went negative in 2010. The Baby Boomers are going on SS, and there will be ever less to pay for them from now on - keeping in mind that the SSA "trust fund" is a pile of U.S Treasury Bonds paid from CURRENT tax revenues - The fund will be depleted according to this article by 2030 ( which also predicted that SS wouldn't be negative till 2023)  The entire  2.7 "trust fund" is going to be "cashed out" over the next 10-15 years paid for by Revenue or printing.  We already have $1 trillion in deficti over revenue, so that implicitly adds on 270 Billion  a year to spending over the next 10 years.  So yeah, to balance the budget without entitlement reform, they need to eliminate the military entirely, raise taxes by 5 Trillion over the next ten years,  all while keeping other spending the same as in previous years without the implied 6% growth - all in a ZIRP induced inflationary environment.   Yeppers. That is going to work.

Point. Of. No.  Return.

Don't get me started on how ALL Govt budgets, that will just make me want to decorate trees from coast to coast!

And yes Fig.7 in the paper is no lie, there have been other studies and all the results are the same...you can tinker the margins all you want from now till the end of time and it won't change a damned thing!  There is not enough tinkering, not enough real growth, not enough wealth to confiscate that can forestall complete and utter failure!  Trying to make an dent in the thick skulls of all the idiotic brain-dead Americans out there who fail to understand this is...it's like trying to convince a bus full of retards at the precise moment when the bus began to lose control that that is where you began your firery demise, not the moment the flames burst as it hit the canyon floor...

All a sane person can do is prepare for the inevitable as best they can, and actually letting these morons break it all faster might be the only compassionate thing you could do...but I am running out of compassion, it's really getting harder to give a damn, it really is...

But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.
