Americans Elect
« on: May 15, 2012, 12:22:02 PM »
The group Americans Elect has gone down the tubes. In my opinion they were set up to siphon votes from the Republican party so I see it as a very good thing that it has failed.

It was perhaps the most well-funded start to an aspirational “third party” in the last few decades, and it had plenty of higher-profile support.  Americans Elect has already qualified for the general election ballot in 27 states.  The organization asked people to pick its nominees in a big on-line effort, which produced … no contenders:
“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government.”
- Patrick Henry

"The more corrupt the state, the more it legislates."
- Tacitus

Fear not, brave independents.  Americans Elect plans to continue their efforts to find a nominee, just as soon as they figure out how to bypass their own rules to do it.  This will give the nominee credibility

We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.
