Here is the enthusiasm gap:

90% reporting

Republican senate primary votes cast: 172,838
Democrat senate primary votes cast:  73,573

Republican president primary votes cast: 161,146
Democrat president primary votes cast: 57,148
Libertarian president primary votes cast: 232 (Gary Johnson kicked ass with 93 votes in case you were wondering)

Not that this means anything, really. McLoser won Nebraska very comfortably in 2008.

Isn't this the second candidate in as many weeks that the
"washed up" ex-governor of Alaska has pushed to the top?

ETA:  Link

The 53-year-old Fischer overcame low name familiarity and being outspent by two competitors to win the nomination in Tuesday's election.

She was backed by 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and former presidential candidate Herman Cain.

And remember: Palin's endorsement doesn't mean a damn thing anymore. And the Tea Party is insignificant.

Oh, and RedState had this discussion going on re: Tea Party congresscritters -

http://www.redstate.com/erick/2012/05/16/the-club-for-growths-depressing-study-failure-and-lies-of-the-tea-party-congresscritters/

70% of the Tea Party congresscritters sided with the leadership and somehow the leadership is not sharing some of the blame horsesh*t legislation and compromise packages the leaders saddle us with?

Come on, man?!

Our job is to support and elect the most conservative candidates we can in the primaries and then carry that through the general and kick Dem asses!

We are not going to change this weak, feckless and untrustworthy leadership unless more conservatives are sent to represent us, period!

That the Tea Party has been the recent vehicle to advance conservative candidates IMO is a good thing and if recent results are any indication they have not gone away as reported by the Democrat-Media Complex.  Nor does it seem the mantra of the Democrat-Media Complex that the Tea Party is comprised of violent extremists and the OWS crowd is red, white & blue Americana gaining any traction.

The Dem's are on the run.  This is when you break out the steamrollers and crush them utterly!!!

Basically, we have to keep up fighting the good fight.

That starts with continuing to send the most conservative candidates we can get to the primaries and get them on the ballot followed with getting them elected.

It continues with holding them accountable for the votes they make and the legislation that they sponsor and co-sponsor. If they do not toe the line then they need to get primaried and sent home. This is our responsibility. We just can't say, "Well, I got them elected and they suck and now there isn't anything more I can do."

Sooner or later (probably later because these things are rather glacial in their speed) we will get the congress that we need to make the kinds of basic and fundamental changes to the federal (and state and local) government that is required of a fiscally responsible society. It won't happen overnight. It takes vigilance and stubbornness. The attitude of lethargy/complacency is the one that got us to where we are now. And it is our fault for sending these boneheads there year after year and not holding them accountable.

We will eventually reach a critical mass in congress and things will then really begin to change. Until then we must be patient and determined to keep moving in the right direction.

Last night's primary in Nebraska adds (hopefully) another senator who will not be part of the system but will instead fight to correct it.

In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

We are like the fat guy who's coming down with CAD and is reluctant
about cutting the calories, cutting the cigs, and hitting the gym.
Those donuts along with the coffee and cigs have been such friends,
such a comfort so long and now he's not only told he must leave his
close friends but,... but, must also hit the gym.  It's a cold reality.

There was an article (possibly Red State) that Fischer is no friend of smaller government and lower taxes.
I don't think her opponent was any better.

Palin's endorsement, I suspect, was partly because Fischer is a woman.
