List of "ethnic slurs"
« on: June 23, 2012, 06:37:30 PM »
This tripped my trigger.  I'm kind of amazed that so many words have been "classified" as insulting, slurs.

For instance:

"Ann
(North America) a white woman to a black person—or a black woman who acts too much like a white one. While Miss Ann, also just plain Ann, is a derisive reference to the white woman, by extension it is applied to any black woman who puts on airs and tries to act like Miss Ann.[6]"

So, a White woman calling, or referring to a Black woman as, "Ann" or "an Ann" is an ethnic slur.  What if her name is Ann?

There are not words in the English language for how despicable these people are.

Little Richard - "Miss Ann"

This EP was released in 1957

I found myself bemused AND amused to see that "moulignon" was on the list.

Niglet. And here I thought I invented that one in my younger days.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Not for nuthin', but I found the site when I was looking for the proper spelling for "moulignon", as somebody in a comment to a post *somewhere* referred to Blacks as "moolies", which is a short version.

Moo-lin-yon.

Funny thing is, there was this singer in the 50s-60s named Lou Monte (immigrant from Italy or born here, I dunno) who recorded a song called "Pepino the Italian Mouse" (Sung in a pastiche of both Calabrese and English, "Pepino the Italian Mouse" tells the humorous tale of a mischievous mouse who lives within the walls of a man's kitchen and who comes out at night to eat cheese, drink wine, frighten Lou's girlfriend when she comes over...and befriends the cat, sent out to catch him.  So sez Wiki.  And Pepino used to appear on The Ed Sullivan Show) in which Monte exclaims, "And what a moulignon!", which was, and still is, confusing to me because the damn mouse wasn't black.

Okay.  Now you know how I got ... there.

The list has a lot of retarded crap in it.  I guess they don't know Coonass people are real, they call themselves Coonass.

Fresh off the boat?  Where's the freakin' slur?

I'm a Gaijin if I am in Japan, do I frickin' care?

Hajji, offends a death cult...boo fricken hoo!  Makes me want to use it more!

People start getting their hackles up over BS annoys me to no end, that scene in Grand Torino where the old farts insult the hell out of each other reminds me of how people used to handle themselves, but people had tougher skins back then, today everybody is a crybaby.
