The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.—That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,—
"And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor."

If only more people were cognizant of the meaning behind each and every word.

Providence played a key role in our founding, of that I have no doubt.  The Creator stretched forth His hand and gave us men who brought us together who gave us the philosophical insight into the God-given rights of man and the people capable of opposing the greatest military force on the face of the earth, and the result was the creation of the greatest Republic the world has ever known and may ever know.

Was it Providence that gave us the Committee of Five?  Richard Henry Lee made the motion for separation and would have chaired the Committee comprising Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman and Robert Livingston.  But a sickness in the family meant the Committee had to do without Lee and his replacement was Thomas Jefferson.  At the urging of John Adams the responsibility to draft the declaration was put on Jefferson, who was reluctant to take the lead from the senior Adams.  Adams prevailed and the task fell to Jefferson.  The rest is history.

Providence?  You betchya.

And today I think we have Providence working too, albeit of the trials and tribulations variety, for our failure to hold onto the principles and beliefs upon which we were created.
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Change cannot come too quickly to suit the Convenience and the Predilections of an Enlightened Minority;  Governments long established should be changed the Moment a Sufficient Number of Well Regarded Contributors to the New York Review of Books have determined that such Change is Morally Incumbent; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that intellectuals who have never run anything in their lives are the Fittest of all Living People to remedy virtually any evil by abolishing the forms of Government, Laws and Customs of Society to which the brutish and unreflective Common People are accustomed.
