He's their surrogate daddy/husband. Government has become the general purpose provider. Sorry if this sounds pessimistic, but we keep talking about that critical mass one day where the dependent class is mathematically insurmountable, well it's not "one day". We're there. It's here. I don't think a Republican will ever sit in the Oval Office again. Ever.

The entitlement equation only works so long as there is a host for the parasites to feed on. Republicans may be slow and mulish but smack them long and hard enough and even the most docile of them revolts.
I would never point to myself as a shining example for conservatism because basically I'm a bastard, but I (and people like me) represent the bellwether for the consequence of killing to golden goose. I've never cheated on my taxes but I'm now willing to start. I've never taken charity but I'm exploring the options. I've always looked for and negotiated deals in order to leverage myself in any given circumstance but now my mindset is aimed at a reverse Cloward-Piven of the very system that I used to support.
If we cannot recapture our government this November I intend to apply pressure in any way that I can find to stress and duress it until it breaks. If we're going to augur in I intend to fly first class, not baggage!
