Does anyone know if MINOR v. HAPPERSETT was the final word from the court on the matter of a legal definition for Natural Born Citizen? I'm just wondering about the status of Rubio or Jindal from a strictly legal standpoint, taking common law at the time of the founders, MINOR v. HAPPERSETT, and any subsequent legal interpretations into account.

As far as I know, there hasn't been another, so it stands.

Then how can anyone who clamors for constitutional conservatism brush this aside and advocate Rubio or Jindal for President?

I like Rubio just fine, and it seems to me a cryin' shame if he can't hold the office. But if he can't hold the office, he can't hold the office!

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

That's what I'VE been saying!

I used to appreciate Rubio, but no longer.  He's spoken and shown he's closer to his Cuban roots, and "hispanic" favoritism, than to preservation of this country.  He's another one that has no problem with the ongoing "hispaniciziation" of the United States, I have no doubt.  {eta} And he stands as an example of THE reason why the Founders wrote as they did.  He's too close to his parents' heritage.

And I hope Ted Kennedy, the author and advocate of the 1965 revamp of our immigration laws, is rotting in hell.

Knowing what we do of Kennedy, he's sure to get a pineapple up his ass like Hitler.

Potential Veep Condi Rice promotes nation building democracy style in FT opinion piece...

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/f4837046-d67b-11e1-ba60-00144feabdc0.html#ixzz21mBEwpvt

Check out the 5th paragraph...

That's one opinion...one can argue the many points, but clearly the need to tie behavior before giving money and other support eludes Ms. Rice, and she is equally naive thinking a belief in democracy in undemocratic regions of the world is a cure all...after all wasn't it the latter that Obama cited during the "Arab Spring"?  How's that working out in Egypt?  Not too well I'd say!  Oh, and just because W made a mistake is no reason to go on making more!  Be very careful what you wish for!  And for Mitt, be very careful who you select as Veep!

So if Rice is already listed as a speaker at the convention I guess that takes her off the Veep list, eh?

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/08/05/rice-haley-mccain-to-speak-at-gop-convention/

J-Mac, really, we have to have that loser speak?  Well, I guess we have to get pissed at someone during our live chat of the convention, might as well unload on this born loser.

No keynote speaker tapped yet either.

Well, that leaves only the Veep choice and keynote speaker choice left to screw up...

He crashed his jets, he crashed his campaign, and now he will
crash the convention.  Is Leslie going to stand beside his with
looks of adoration while he speaks?

Paul Ryan.  If this means the new CiC is adopting the Ryan plan, great, better fight for it.  Can't wait to see VP Ryan whip those feckless Pubbies on the Hill in line.

RINOs/AINOs forced to support the ticket's plan...this should be good.
