« on: March 25, 2011, 07:17:28 AM »
Yeah...another proglodyte wet dream come true!  All those fart-sniffer's must be ecstatic over this idea, eh?

http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/senate/151765-cbo-says-taxing-drivers-based-on-miles-driven-a-real-option-for-raising-revenues

Yeah, and it will go to highway maintenance...just like SocSec got thrown into fictional "lockbox"!

I hope Conrad and the rest of the DemonRats support this, talk about a no-brainer campagin ad wit which to beat them senseless!

Dem's just spend spend spend and tax tax tax and spend spend spend some more...

Ya just can't fix stupid...

...but ya sure can ridicule it and kick it down a flight of stairs!

We already pay taxes for that: License plate, drivers license, inspection sticker, about .55 a gallon at the pump, and the newest - toll roads, which were created because private enterprise is more efficient than gubberment.

They can kiss my ass.  I'm not paying them for the right to travel freely, seeing as how I'm already paying in the way of fees and taxes for the method by which.

I've been wary of this since collecting odometer readings became part of the "safety" inspections bullsht, and the repair shops do it for warranty purposes.

This is none of their g'damned business and I'm just waiting for the first asshole who defends it by saying, "well, you don't have to drive", similar to "well, you don't have to fly".

ENOUGH!!

Yeah!

I prefer "They don't have to regulate!" and "They don't have to tax!"

And "They don't have to eat solid food anymore!" works for me too!

I think people in this country have pretty much accepted that we are taxable for anything.

Acceptance begets more encroachment, encroachment robs liberty until critical mass is achieved and full-blown tyranny arrives!

Some have.  Others, not so much, and from the unions screaming about their lives coming to an end (/s) it looks like more are coming around to our way of thinking.

Faster, please.

And if it doesn't move, subsidize it!

http://biggovernment.com/publius/2011/03/25/hey-lets-tax-people-for-the-miles-they-drive/

So from this article I find this wrap-up:

" At a very basic, theoretical, level, taxing the miles we drive makes some economic sense."

 ::bashing:: ::cussing::
As far as I'm concerned it makes no sense at any level.  I'm unwilling to be reasonable and accept any taxes any more.  Show me why you need the money and then I'll consider it. I'll give ya the military. Next?

Someone once said:

A Tax is a Fine on something legal
whereas
A Fine is a Tax on something illegal.

Sounds screwed up to me. But whoami?

I would say that the next thing is gonna be a tax on air, but they already did that with ObamaCare.

Reagan's full quote:

Quote
Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.
~ Ann Barnhardt
