There is talk about what will we discuss....I have an idea, and I hate it, but lets do what we do best, study what we will look like under obamacare, under higher taxes and brainstorm ideas to survive, not just in where we may live or protect ourselves, but how we will continue to make a living.

We may have lost an election to the stupid half of this nation, so we may as well figure out how to take advantage of them. Hey, let them be poor and stupid......lets help them stay there.

There is already a business in doing that. Its called Banking.  If you plan to do that, better plan on buying a Democrat politican to ensure that you don't go to jail like Corzine didn't. Seriously, no small businessman will be allowed to thrive in the coming years.  You will play the game or be driven out. The politics of pull and crony socialist fascism will be the rule. If you think you can join that crony elite and prosper, then go for it, but they call them cronies for a reason. They, more so any any person on welfare, are the puppets of their masters.  They do as they are told and they are told to do evil to good people  like you.I personally would rather die a pauper and a free man  than do what would be required to keep my wealth under this govt.

Its not going to be higher taxes and Obamacare - its going to regulations that prevent any small business from functioning. Its goin to be fuel prices that prohibit production.  With no election to worry about and a willingness to ignore congress, courts in thier pockets, they are going to create a crisis that warrants martial law and outright seizures and confiscations. There is no "new normal" to adapt to-- their goal is the destruction of the capitalist ethic that you are extolling.

Do everything you can to harm them, and that includes depriving them of their lifeblood - money.  Empty the 401K and the IRA and Bank Accounts.  LOOK POOR even if you are not. The banking system is leveraged at least 10:1 -every $1 you remove takes at least $10 from the potential economy. Make them print it. Make them come for it. This is now WAR. The only way you will keep what you earn, beg, buy, borrow or steal  is by defending it with lethal force or by buying protection from the Chicago mafia that is about to go scortched earth on the country.

I understand your sentiment and trust me, I want to do everything to harm them, including creating a "poor" look. But I also want to take their money, as long as I can, before the mafia moves in. I believe I have a few years to do it and in war, you do everything you can to harm your enemy. There are plenty of suckers.

I haven't prepared like you, but I have been mindful of this coming " situation" and have been slowly draining my savings accounts, keeping less in my checking accounts, not too much to cause alarm but stripping my accounts. I have, over the last two years, shaped my business to do more cash, less credit. Sorry, but I can't just drop out. I don't blame those who do, but I will fight this establishment as long as I can, including conducting business...and if I'm forced out because of obamacare, taxes or over burdening regulation, I'll take what I've pilfered and bug out.
I'm not always engulfed in scandals, but when I am, I make sure I blame others.

The problem with emptying the retirement account is that mine is in stock funds (and still a healthy amount in TIPS).  That will handle the coming inflation better than anything other than maybe metals.

People that own debt (banks) and bank accounts are at greatest risk.

I am wondering if I should quit my job.  I would really prefer to just be laid off though, so I can draw the full unemployment benefits first. Then, after that I could go on welfare and food stamps.

The main drawback to this idea is that maybe one day some semblance of sanity will return, and I will want to become gainfully employed again. I don't know how I would explain a gap in my employment history of several years.  Maybe I could just make up some nebulous bullsh*t, like "community organizer".

I'm going through and rereading each and every post here (not just this thread). I've been taking it all in and sift~n~sorting it in an attempt to make sense of it relative to what has happened. And what has happened? You know that picture of one of the victims of Sandy, standing there in the ruins of her neighborhood? That is what happened natioanlly, only on a slow-motion scale. Your neighbors (and mine) wrecked this country, just as surely as the hurricane -it just doesn't show....yet.

In answer to your post Glock32, I'm not going to quit my job, but I am looking for an opportunity to exploit my employer. What I'd like is a disability, preferably with a compensation payout. Nasty thought, isn't it?

The people I work for helped aided the reelection effort of Ă˜bongo so I have nothing but contempt for them.

In another time and a place long since destroyed I would be dismayed with myself for my abandonment of my core principles. Now I've come to realize that you can't eat your principles. I'm not turning my back on them, rather I'm putting them on the shelf until sanity returns to my country. Until then I'm gonna screw every leftist I can.

Hey did you know SSI has a "uncontested" policy on SSI claims after you are fifty. Basically after 50 you are taken at your word, and they do little to check it.

The thing is, I want to continue to draw a paycheck - without actually working, and not touch SSI until I can get full payout (assuming that it is there when I get there). Selfish of me, I know, but I'm learning how to be a "taker" and it's baby-steps  ;)

I became disabled in Feb '07.  I had to jump through hoops to get SSDI.  My doctor had to fill out forms and fax them.  I had the documentation, but I had to prove it anyway, get a certified birth certificate, etc., no one took me at my word.  Although being a white guy and dealing with a government bureaucracy may have something to do with that.  SSDI is now just one more redistibutionist entitlement, which pisses off people like me who paid into the SS ponzi scheme.
