Under current Texas law, school districts can grant written permission for employees to carry firearms on campus. Harrold ISD, a district in northwest Texas with roughly 100 students, allows teachers to carry concealed handguns under what they call a "Guardian Plan," set up in the wake of the 2007 shooting at Virginia Tech.

David Thewatt, the district's superintendent, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that his district did not want a plan where you "lock yourself in your closet and hope that an intruder won't hurt you." As with Villalba's proposal, employees there must be approved by the school district in order to carry a concealed firearm.

http://www.texastribune.org/texas-education/public-education/rep-villalba-allow-teachers-carry-concealed-guns/

And the key is concealed!  Like the Air Marshalls they are most effective when would-be perp's don't know who is packing.  Other than being required to carry concealed and getting permission from the district the only other requirement is that they must use frangible rounds.

Nobody in the MFM is talking about TX and safely carrying in schools...and it is NOT by accident!  It is a deliberate act of obfuscation so their gun-grabbing agenda is the ONLY agenda to be accepted!

Damn them, damn them all to Hell!

No, they don't want to talk about Texas.

"Gov. Rick Perrysuggested that local control should rule — and school districts should decide for themselves whether to allow their employees to carry firearms."

Wonder how many of those morons are from inside the blue zones of Houston, Austin or other states?  Idiots!  They cannot find one instance where ANYTHING bad has happened in this school district since they adopted this policy, and THAT speaks volumes to their lack of intellectual capacity to understand anything!

http://www.examiner.com/article/threat-to-private-gun-sales-might-be-greater-than-threat-to-assault-weapons

The Brady Campaign seems to see private sales ban as "lower hanging fruit" than a new AWB.  ...
...
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has (in)famously pushed hard to close the "gun show loophole," (Rick Santorum is another supposedly "conservative Republican" who has advocated closing the mythical "loophole") ...

They'll nibble harder at the edges, make things more difficult via bureaucracy, regulation and cost...they hope to one day see their utopia of guns only in their hands...l hope l am long gone if that ever happens...

What ammo there isn't any to be bought around here. I tried a couple of sites and they're 4 weeks out at least.

Lucky you!  I can't find .223/5.56 anywhere right now. Well, not exactly -- found a couple of places selling plain old FMJ for 80 cents per round. I'll just buy dies and brass and load my own before I spend that much on normal range fodder.

7.62x39, 7.62x54R, and 5.45x39 on the other hand, I could almost become a dealer myself  ::thumbsup::

More for Obama and the hypocrites on the Left to answer for!  Are privileged kids only allowed to be protected with armed personnel, the rest can die and have the rights of their parents (and their rights when they reach age) removed, just so the Left can live under a different set of rules?

Screw that noise!  We should all be raising Hell over this!

Somewhat of a new development but not official in the following interview(two parts). Quite  revealing as this guy dispels many of the inconsistencies.

But Weisshaupt; protecting children from crazed gunmen with deadly force is extremism.
/

Extremism in the defense of liberty (and life!) is no vice!  Some are coming to that realization -

“I am not proud of the fact that it has come to this,” said Mr. Grime, who has three children of his own in Montpelier Schools.

“I am not totally in favor of having concealed-carry weapons in school.

“But times have changed.”

Times may have changed, but human nature hasn't; same as it ever was.

I don't know what fact Mr. Grimes is not proud of -- that he's wanting to carry a weapon? -- but that's no cause for shame.

Fer crissake.
