Gun shop where Nancy Lanza bought guns: raided by ATF

This is intimidation, plain and simple. To gun shops everywhere, the message is: You sell a gun that is used in a crime, you will be raided by the government even in the absence of illegal activity.

Connecticut Shop Where Nancy Lanza Bought 1 Of Her Guns Raided By Feds

Federal agents raided an eastern Connecticut gun shop on Thursday, the same gun shop that sold one of the weapons used by the Newtown elementary school shooter.

Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, assisted by police, moved in on Riverview Sales at 4 Prospect Hill Road in East Windsor at around 5:15 p.m., reported Len Besthoff of CBS 2 sister station WFSB in Hartford.

Adam Lanza shot and killed 20 children and six adults with a Bushmaster .223-caliber rifle in Newtown last Friday, the second-worst mass shooting in United States history. At least one of the guns the 20-year-old had on him during the attack was purchased at Riverview Sales by his mother, Nancy Lanza, who was shot to death by her son prior to his rampage at the school.

All indications are Thursday’s raid was not directly related to the Newtown massacre investigation, but, as Besthoff reported, it was related to several other crimes committed at the store, including the recent theft of an AR-15 and the attempted theft of a .50-caliber long gun, both by a man with mental illness, Besthoff reported.

Police and ATF agents converged on the store and the plaza was later cordoned off by local cops, while the feds reportedly went through the store’s inventory.

So. If you legally sell a gun that is then used in a crime, crimes against your store will be used by the federal government as an excuse to raid your business.

Evil Nazi tactics!  The psycho did not buy the weapons he stole them from the lawful person who did, his own mother whom he murdered! lf the leftists idiots allowed lawful people to carry concealed in the school that may have been the limit of the killing in this case, going after a legal business is gutless and vile!  When was the last time these jerks raided the slaughterhouses of Planned Parenthood?!

*Something* must be done; Nancy Lanza's been murdered, gun shop is an ATF-appropriate target now because crimes have been committed and *something* must be done.

Just like what's-his-name who made the Mohammed video that nobody actually saw. He was frogmarched in the middle of the night for some sort of probation violation.  Riiiiight. That was it.

It's amazing.  A business gets robbed and instead of the crime being investigated, the business gets raided.  I wonder if they think the gun shop gave the gun to a mentally ill person? ::thinking::

As a retired LEO, at one point in time I had a number of friends on the ATF and I had a lot of respect for them.  I just don't understand what made that agency go as rogue as it has.  I am sure a lot has to do with the incredibly left wing bureaucrats/attorneys that are appointed to run the Federal agencies.  I firmly believe if an individual has a J.D., that disqualifies them from holding any position elected or appointed within the government.  That includes local and state governments too. machinegun

I'm sure the enemy has their eye on that.

There've been court cases losing that route.
It's simply a Chicago style message to all dealers.
