60-foot beached whale dies on shores of New York City
« on: December 27, 2012, 08:17:39 PM »
I brought this to IAL for a reason.

At 60 tons, biologists noted the whale was "sickly" and "emaciated"

Quote
The “sickly” and “emaciated” 60-foot finback whale beached on the shoreline at Breezy Point in Queens, New York, yesterday, is now dead. The whale was originally given a grim prognosis, as biologists noticed that at 60 tons, the whale was extremely underweight. Mendy Garron, a marine-mammal rescue coordinator with the National Marine Fisheries Service, told the New York Times, “When large whales strand, it’s very difficult,” adding, “The minute they get on the beach they’re being compromised because their internal organs are being crushed by their weight.”

Now biologists are working on a necropsy plan and will determine how to dispose of the whale’s large body; the finback whale is the second-longest animal on Earth, behind the blue whale.

Vid at link.

I heard about this on the "news" where the "expert" discussed a "necropsy plan" that consisted of cutting the whale into pieces or trucking it to a landfill.

 ::saywhat::

^^ This is why I dragged this here because, speaking of dragged, the "experts" can't think of a plan that entails getting it back into the water where it can be dumped for fish food?

At sea dead whales will be feasted upon for days. You'll see large sharks that ordinarily do not tolerate each other congregating in large groups (i.e. great whites) ripping off huge chunks.  I wonder what their angle will be to blame this on climate change? Surely it's in there somewhere.

I'm sure that's the point of the necropsy, because you know it just can't be natural.

Frankly, I can't think of a better place for a whale to die.

Should have listed this under "The Departed" Whales are persons, right? That's why they need to be "saved," right?

Well, anyway...I can think of a better place/way for a whale to die. Personally, I would like to see the idiots from "Whale Wars" save the whale and then have it die at their hands through gross negligence all while the cameras are rolling. The followup would show the whale activists self flagellating themselves and banging their heads against walls.

I would pay good money to see that.

Ya know, I'm really disappointed in you guys.  I really expected one of you, by now, to have posted the YouTube of the geniusii blowing up a dead, beached whale and watching a piece fly out to the water, sinking a small sailboat.

Tsk, tsk.  Youse are slipping.

I already posted that somewhere a few days ago (it's my mind that is slipping away)...

If you find it, let me know. Mine's probably there, too.

I'm surprised enviro-whacko libiots didn't build a shrine on the spot.

Or remember that video of them out in the woods screaming and crying over the anguish of trees?

Are you sure about that exploding whale thing?

I found a video of a whale being blown up but it was a car that was destroyed.

Then there is this bit of fiction:

Hancock Movie Whale Throw

The exploding whale thing was one of those ideas that probably looked pretty good on paper but not so much in reality. Personally, I think there was a bunch of highway engineers who just liked to blow stuff up and they jumped at the chance to blow up a whale. The aftermath reminded me of the WKRP turkey drop.

"60-foot beached whale dies on shores of New York City"

My first reaction was that I thought Rep. Jerrold Nadler passed away . . .
