Interesting man. IRRC, in one of his books he dissected Colon Powell's qualifications by the numbers.  Good show.
RIP General.

Back in the days when I supplemented my music income by promoting business seminars Stormin' Norman was one of our featured speakers in the wake of his role in the Gulf War.

He was an entertaining and knowledgeable fella. I don't remember the specifics if his talk, but I'm sure it had to do with excellence/performance under pressure, that kind of thing.

RIP
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

May God rest him and judge him lightly. It hurts to lose a man of his caliber. There are too few left.
“My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together.

“However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

78 isn't young but still...
In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

RIP, General.   ::USA::

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/12/27/gen-norman-schwarzkopf-who-led-coalition-forces-in-persian-gulf-war-dies/

Passed away at 78 years old.  I guess it's a testament to the state of medical science that I think "wow that's not very old" anytime I see where someone less than 80 has died.  I read a Schwarzkopf quote on another site that made me laugh out loud. In response to France not joining the action in Desert Storm, Schwarzkopf said: "Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without your accordion."
"The Fourth Estate is less honorable than the First Profession."

A great one.  And for comparisons sake, a humble man.

Quote
Truth is, retired Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf didn't care much for his popular "Stormin' Norman" nickname.

I guess for some, it wasn't all about themselves.

Yes, very humble, perhaps too humble...I wish he could have been convinced to run for president as a Rpeublican, he would have made a much better choice than Dole (but then just about anybody would have been better than Dole...I think I supported Forbes that year) but IIRC the flirtation with Powell was still in play then.

Too bad.

Norm was a warrior's warrior and he will be missed.

R.I.P. Norm, day is done.   ::USA::
