He is done for.  It just isn't going to happen until next year, in a historical House defeat for Republicans.

Yup. It will be hailed as the affirmation of Leftist politics, when in fact, it is hopelessness that the GOP will ever mount an effective resistance to Leftism or champion conservative principles.

Yupyup, and goldammy these damn people who keep drawing precisely the WRONG lessons from events.

The E-GOP will blame the hot-headed extremist conservatives and Tea Party crowd for poisoning the political discourse and making compromise and effective governance difficult in these challenging times that demand calm cool leadership and members who repesent the diversity of America and...

 ::puke::

OK, enough of that channelling idiotic bed-wetting Pubbie crap!

GOP is six feet under already, they're just too damned stupid to realize it much less the real reason why...fvck 'em!

He was re-elected last time and considering how the majority perceives politics in this country and his state there is no reason, other than a conservative's desire, to think he will not be re-elected again.  Sorry, Hawk.

He might be in 2014.   Just Minority Leader, not Speaker

If you believe that the trajectory of this country has been guided by Providence, perhaps there is a reason none of our efforts at achieving partial victory through these spineless political whores have worked. Perhaps we are meant to achieve more meaningful victories by other means, and that is why we must be frustrated again and again by the political process. It's to drive the point home.

A comment at American Thinker:

" JohnMG

While I am disgusted with Boehner's 'performance', yours is the first mention that I can recall here of the potential of a "Speaker Pelosi" becoming a reality if an overthrow attempt were to take place. This was my fear as well.

Certainly the media was remaining mum in the hope that political in-fighting among the Republicans would yield that result.....another example of their complicity with the Democrats.

Was there time for a unified effort at changing the speakership? I sincerely doubt it. That type of maneuvering takes time and under the current rules, secerecy, in order to avoid handing control of the House back to the wicked witch of the West. If you think the Obama cabal is gloating now, imagine if that fate were to befall the country.

No, we're stuck with Boehner for the present, unless a determined faction of Republicans coalesce around another member, and then take Boehner to the woodshed and convince him to resign. Ain't gonna happen!"

I feel very ignorant in that I do not know if this was a real possibility or not.  Could Pelosi have been elected Speaker of the House, even as a member of the minority party there?

I'm with you Pan. I don't know the answer. I guess a bit of research is in order as to the process for electing a Speaker.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

::speechless::  These people truely are dumber than a box of rocks!   ::unknowncomic::

Even if Boehner received no votes, and the pubbies all voted for themselves and Pelosi received all 193 proglodyte votes, she is not Speaker, whoever is elected Speaker (and it doesn't have to be a sitting member!) must receive majority vote of the full house, that is 218 votes!

Former Rep. West received valid votes for Speaker.  From what I've read, you do not have to be in the House to be elected Speaker.  So Nanzi Pelousy had a good shot at the Speakership, considering how fukced up the PubicHairs are.

Libertas is right. The Speaker must receive a majority. A plurality isn't enough. So Pelosi would not have become Speaker unless a bunch of Republicans voted for her.

At least she was a lot more effective in her agenda than what Boehner is in what his should be

Man, you can say that again.

Liberals are always more effective because they are unembarrassed to pursue their agenda every hour of every day. Look at Obamacare. Lots of them knew they would probably lose their seats in the immediate backlash, but they held to the party line in order to get it passed because they knew government medicine will become the centerpiece of permanent socialism.

Diversity?  She's an old White hatchet-faced broad of Italian descent, married to a Jew, who, no doubt, lives safely beyond the "vibrant multiculti/diversity" she prescribes for the rest of us.  And "is a founding member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus", in other words, another commie.
