Small Dead Animals has a byline/heading they use for stories like this: "The Sound of Settled Science..."
It's just humorous when libs snicker and sneer, convinced that only they have the rational capacity to understand science, yet are always perplexed when the Current Truth turns out to be somewhat less than Truth. I think on a very general level it gets back to the fact that arrogance begets certitude, and I have yet to meet a liberal who is not brimming over with certitude.
Conservatives on the other hand recognize that not all things are knowable, and that many of the things we think we know are actually just high confidence conclusions rather than certainties. Something as complex as global climate is fraught with variables both known and unknown, yet these same fools think they can make pronouncements on it. They are predictably thrown into fits of confusion when contradictory data surface -- yet their instinct is not to conclude the theory is flawed, no it's the data that must be wrong. That is the hallmark of the zealot.
