Only in America: A Canadians View

TOP-11 "ONLY IN AMERICA" OBSERVATIONS -- BY A CANADIAN*
1) Only in America could the rich people - who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.
2) Only in America could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black while only 12% of the population is black
3) Only in America could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head of the Treasury Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee, BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.
4) Only in America can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.
5) Only in America would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens.
6) Only in America could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be thought of as "extremists."
7) Only in America could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.
8) Only in America could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).
9) Only in America could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year - for total spending of $7-Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.
10) Only in America could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 a plate campaign fund-raising event.
11) Only in America can a man with no background, no qualifications and no experience ... and a complete failure at his job ... be reelected.
I'm entitled (to be cranky).

Awesome.  I have another 'Only in America'... It is called "America Tolerates":

America tolerates the killing of our unborn children and calls it "freedom of choice"

America tolerates homosexual perversions and calls it "diversity and alternative lifestyles"

America tolerates paganism and immoral life styles and calls it "multiculturalism"

America tolerates killing of the elderly and the ill among us and calls it "compassion"

America tolerates religious cults that deny God and calls it "denominationalism"

America tolerates pornography and exploitation of women and children and calls it "art"

America tolerates vile and filthy brain washing of our children and calls it "music or movies"

America tolerates God's Holy Name being blasphemed and calls it "freedom of speech"

America tolerates taking of innocent life, and theft of property and calls it "our legal system"

America tolerates everything... except God.

Indeed.

So much is upside down and inside out. To those without a guiding moral compass, right is wrong; wrong is right - good is evil; evil is good. That perversion of values is manifest in our society.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

"In the traditional or Classical-Christian view, life is experienced as participation in (or as rebellion against) a comprehensive order of existence — natural, social and divine — that precedes the existence of the individual. The basic values and institutions of society are affirmed by its members because they see them as grounded, not in the arbitrary will of men, but in truth. Freedom, creativity, and progress unfold from within the natural and transcendent orders in which man is situated, not in complete rejection of them.* At the same time, though capable of good, man is inclined to every kind of evil, particularly the lust for power. This realistic understanding of our flawed human nature was embedded in our traditional morality, with its constraints on inordinate desire, and in the U.S. Constitution, with its system of checks and balances preventing the concentration of power in any one part of the state.

* Transcendence could be defined simply as the quality of any whole which is larger than the sum of its parts, and which therefore cannot be an object of direct experience. An example of transcendence that should be understandable to most Americans is the idea of “man,” as in “all men are created equal … endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.” While we can see individual human beings everywhere, we cannot see ‘man’ anywhere, even though “man” is the essential nature of what we are, and, according to the Declaration, the very source of our rights as individuals. Similarly, a nation cannot be seen or experienced with the senses, yet its members do not doubt its reality as something that transcends the individual members and provides the meaningful order of their lives. When people lose a transcendent idea of their nation, they also lose the will to preserve or defend the nation itself, just as, when they lose a transcendent idea of human nature, they cease to be offended by crimes against human beings."

Only in America:

. . . can Democratic Party Interest Groups apply for and receive taxpayer dollars to advance their Progressive Agenda, the majority of which is paid by Conservatives.

ACORN, Planned Parenthood, anyone?
The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living
are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.

Only in latter day America can so much un-American crap thrive where none should have been allowed to take root in the first place!

My blood pressure too, JF!

Illustrates two stark realities - 1) We were obviously too good and decent a people, otherwise we would have stomped this out and 2) we are losing (if not lost already).
