One of the many, many advantages of living in a small rural community is that I know a lot of the police officers and sheriff's deputies. I know the sheriff on sight and he knows me. A lot of them know me from my days on the Republican Central Committee. At one time in the past we did have some bad people in the sheriff's department but that doesn't exist anymore to the best of my knowledge. I suspect that our sheriff is one of those who would come down on the side of the 2nd Amendment rather than whatever legislation du jour comes out of Denver or DC. I'll have to ask him about that the next time I see him.
Anyway...I'm not saying that I'm going to be totally trusting of law enforcement when the SHTF but I will be inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt in most circumstances.
