Cats are conservatives? I've always thought of them as pussies.

One of my cats mauled me this summer. She was in the yard staring down a 8-10 foot snake, coiled and ready to strike - it would his, then the cat would his. . I think it was a bull snake , but it may have been a rattler. I wasn't able to get a positive ID either way, but I knew that the cat would probably loose the fight, and there would be a trip to the vet, so I decided to remove her from it. She knew I was there, knew I was coming, but she was watching the snake. I talked to her as I picked her up and waked away briskly -- She was pissed. She scratched me pretty good and then bit me. Dropping to the ground, where does she go? Right back to the snake. So I go back again. She gets the other arm. So now, covered in blood, I go to find bandages (and then later a Doctor, because the wound got infected) I come back out. She is still there, making sure that snake doesn't come any further into the yard. In the end she won- and the snake left, without a fight ( I guess the demonstration on me was enough) Cats are a lot of things, but they are only Pussies in name. Most can tear your face off if they decided to, and can really be excellent hunters- even when well fed.
They crap in an area the size of a toilet, they are clean enough that given them an actual bath is a rare thing, and they are independent enough to always make sure you respect them. And cats understand time well enough to not get overly excited when you leave the house and come back after 5 minutes. Yes, cats are certainly a more conservative pet than a dog. Liberals tend not to own them for that reason, and the liberals do tend to treat their dogs like surrogate children, and not as pets. ( In the people's public of Boulder, you don't own a dog. You adopt them and they are your wards. No kidding)
