Don't like sharks!  Don't want to be around them, don't want to see them!

About the only real fear I ever had being in the Navy!

I've heard the theory that getting bitten by a shark in on the same order of risk as being hit by lightning.  I disagree with that.  You can't avoid lightning, but if you don't go in the ocean, you won't get bitten by a shark.

The only thing that ever bit me in the water at the beach was a crab.  I kicked my leg out of the water and the little bugger went flying.  (Jellyfish don't bite, but I've been stung plenty of times.)

Unlike the 10's of thousands of auto deaths a year, when this happens, it's world news.

Proportion and all.

I used to work with a fella when I was much younger who compared swimming in the ocean to living in a world where sharks could fly.

He had a point.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
