The trade group for the nation's leading gun manufacturers said it will not actively oppose expansion of background checks, which are designed to prevent guns from reaching criminals or the seriously mentally ill.

[Correct, close out any incentive to buy a used gun.  GAS about the invasive, restrictive and unconstitutional aspect.  The names of these manufacturers should be published in order that the consumer may choose which manufacturer to support.

"That's more the NRA's issue," Steve Sanetti, president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), said in an interview. "From the commercial side, we're already there, and we've been there, and we were the ones that have been the strongest proponents of an effective, complete background check."

Representatives from some gun makers are discussing possible legal changes in confidential talks with congressional staff members, according to people familiar with the talks who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the conversations.

Anonymity due to "sensitivity", huh?  Damn skippy; they're hiding because they know they deserve to be smashed.  And hard.

These acquisitive, commercial interests won't have much commerce to conduct if they don't get with the program. People have reluctantly allowed the likes of Ruger and S&W back into the good graces of the shooting community, but I can promise them there will be no 2nd chances, and for everyone else there's not even going to be a 1st chance.

Those are the ones that'll end up subsidized aside from their government contracts, making competition difficult or impossible. This government is not shy about rewarding its accomplices.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

What AP said.  There is a clear right on wrong place to be on this issue, those siding with The Regime will not be tolerated.
