He's a freaking mind reader. I surfed the web for about two hours last night looking for solar lighting and laptop chargers.

I almost forgot about these.  I put one in an upstairs wouth-facing window sill to get charged up last week, then forgot about it.  If in the sun most of the day it should be fully charged.  Turned it on and it glowed, nothing super bright, only has 4 LEDs in it, enough to create a soft glow.  The specs say 13 lumens high and 5 low, I guess that is about right.  Sundown Friday night I'll turn it on and leave it on, see if I can tell how long it stays lit.  Supposed to be "up to" 8 hours and I am guessing that is at the low setting. I'll test both modes.  But for a simple emergency light you don't have to fuss with batteries it seems a decent deal.

Tested it at sundown yesterday on low setting, it lasted over 12 hours, I lost track of how much longer between hours 12 & 16, but that is pretty good.  It doesn't kick off a ton off light but in a dark area it is enough to get it done and it should make it through most if not the whole night any time of the year if charged up.
