Sounds like a real Jekyl & Hyde outfit...I hate those!

I might end up being a freelance horsesh*t management specialist up at the lake, but I really don't care much anymore, being in these cities and surrounded by so many morons is taxing...I hope I can have time (like until next summer) to retire some small debts and shed most of my belongings before I make the move, but when push comes to shove I'll let the system KMA.  The fun has yet to begin.  At least I'm single, less worry for me.
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

Maintain yourself outside a stithole city for a year and you'll never go back.
Except, maybe, reluctantly, to visit a specialist.  That is the one thing they excel at, an abundance of over qualified specialists, really.  When you want a doctor for example, that type A personality that graduated in the top of his class is not in the sticks, he's in Megalopolis.

As far as bullsh*t tolerance, my employer wants to double down today, it seems.
When I answer his "question" he changes it.

F**k him.
And the horse he rode in on

Walk out.  Don't return.

Not necessarily.  Once you get into a rural area, there usually just enough demand for one doctor. One Barber. One Mechanic and a lot of people would prefer at some point to get out of the city. ( I can't remember a time in my life when I haven't really) Its entirely possible the current holder of that position has had to defeat many rivals.   One of the best Barbers I have ever encountered was near the Teotwawki place.  He looked and felt our hair and was telling us the things we usually have to tell the barber in order to get it cut right.  Why does he do business in that little town? Because he Can.  There is a saying in Colorado -"If you are lucky enough to live in the mountains, then you are lucky enough."  The mechanics in rural areas have to deal with many more older vehicles and yes, that has made them better mechanics. The  super specialists are in the city, because that is the only place there is enough Demand for their specialized services. However, there is no reason to believe a general practitioner to be crap if he happens to be the local country doctor.  The younger ones are probably there because they took a grant to pay for school in return for being the Doctor somewhere rural - so they are inexperienced but not necessarily  bad.  The older ones  probably decided that was where they wanted to be. They weren't necessarily pushed out to the sticks. IN fact, its unlikely.  IN a small place, word gets around. If a Doctor (or any other tradesman) is no good, word gets around.  Bad doctors almost always have to practice in the City- because its the only place where word won't get round as easily. Country folk expect results, not excuses.

I was shopping for land west of Cotopaxi and asked the rep about medical facilities.  He responded that he and his wife discovered the longer you live there the less you needed it.

The statistical probability of one securing a class A graduate top of his class MD for his physician is extremely higher in Megalopolis.
