Why parents allow this game to continue amazes me, anybody sending kids to these schools are insane.  If this isn't stopped people might just as well blow their brains out because it is game over!

I think parents have absconded on their responsibility to be involved with their kids' education.

My wife and I went to meetings, asked for meetings and were general pains in the doopa.
Daughter has some learning issues and we have kept the school's feet to the fire the whole time.  She's a junior now

Last week she had an assignment to do a power point and presentation on wind power and hidden in there was man made global warming.

I helped her (subtly) debunk that crap.

But, uninvolved parents, who were probably dumbed down in the same system either don't care or accept the authority of the school withjout question

College teachers in the 60's were given a loose rein, their students graduated full of illusion. Now we are into, at least, the third generation of illusory education.  It's not that it could happen anywhere, it's that it's happening everywhere.

God save us.

It's happening here, too.  I've had a few email discussions with a local who involves herself in "education" issues in an effort toward enlightenment.  Not one whom I'd consider a progressive, she nevertheless insists it's a nominally good "plan", better than what is being done now.  She's wrong.

eta:  What we're dealing with here is Common Core, which is a bit more transparent than CSCOPE, but equally as bad in other aspects.

Michelle Malkin has been writing about this for a bit now and it's on her site that I found the "new" reading material includes EPA manuals.

*sigh*

I'm almost afraid to say it, but my school district is nothing like what I constantly read about.  My daughter has American History this year and she came home one day and said how lucky she was to be born in this country.  One of her teachers (Math) is an ex-marine, and he made something click in her head last year because she now gets A's in math every grading period.  She was reading at the 11th grade level in 3rd grade.  She's in 8th grade now, and every year there is a Civil War Reenactment put on at the school to go along with their American History studies.  Her Social Studies teacher played the Madison Rising version of the Star Spangled Banner for the class, not something a liberal would like.  Even when she was in Elementary School, they had Christmas parties and Christmas Concerts, Easter break, etc.  They quit broadcasting that stupid speech Obama was giving to all the schools, and the first year they sent us an opt out letter to have our kids go to the library instead of listening to it.  Her 2nd grade teacher had them pray before eating their snack.  The worst thing her Science teacher did so far was to suggest that everyone should unplug all appliances and gadgets when not in use.  I guess I'm in a race to get her through school before they come for her.

I'm in the same situation Lisa. Here, in the most conservative city in the most conservative county in Michele Bachmann's district, our schools are relatively sane. But you and I are fortunate to be inside enclaves, where overt idiocy is not yet safe to assault our children openly in the schools. I have no doubt - in fact I know for a fact - that such idiots are indeed employed in our district. But the school district as a whole is not yet given over to the enemy.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Well thank goodness, I was feeling weird thinking every other school in this country is as screwed up as those I have been reading about.  We just had to fill out her schedule for next year when she starts high school, and I was actually impressed with the choices.  They have three levels for the four main subjects, so she will be in all honors classes for those, and the electives are pretty good too, as in useful.  They also have a non-college track of vo-tech stuff like HVAC, cosmetology, etc., which I think is realistic and useful.  The middle school and high school are right across the street from a university, so they have access to college classes while in high school if they qualify.  All this out in the middle of nowhere, which is I guess why no one has found it to mess it up!

I knew ab out "Common Core" crap but just recently came across "CSCPOPE" last week. I can't believe how deeply embedded it has become in TX of all places! And I'm pushing my wife to move there, and one of the top 3 reasons is teh schools! Imagine that!

Parents trying to get involved, maybe too little too late, we'll see, the for-the-kids crowd will no doubt threaten the kids with rotten grades and expulsion if the parents don't back off and reverse their "drop the pencil" campaign.

You watch, it'll happen!

Sweet.  That is what every COVA parent should do here. Kill our Core Knowledge on-line school and force my kid into your district? Have them deliberately fail the standardized test and tell the teachers that is exactly what you are doing - because you won't give us a choice of schools. Hell, if you are forced to school them outside of the school anyway - tell them to fail every course. College is a dead end road now anyway.

They will of course scream for more money because "these kids are failing!"  and drive the debt up further.

Let. It. Burn.

Libtards really don't understand what will happen when even a small minority sees the State as the enemy.

Yes, burn away, they should know we don't care anymore.  A kid can do well by going to a trade school and learn a real life skill, not useless multi-culti BS and no math or reading and writing skills.
