I commented the following on the Daily Mail article,

The use of Blood Hounds would have negated the abuses of these storm troopers, they would have found the suspect sooner and without violating anyone's 4th Amendment rights. Had they shown up at my home I would have asked to see a search warrant or asked what their probable cause was. And, yes, a slobbering blood hound desperate to enter my home would have been enough probable cause. I also would have wanted to be present during the search to ensure that they were conducting the search in a respectful (of my belongings) manner. Also, had they wanted to search a dresser or other small container, I would have stopped them, because a person would not fit into such a location.

I got 47 thumbs up as of this morning.

That just makes too much sense...those 47 people are obviously fellow bitter-clinging non-Obama-type citizens!

We should all get used to it sooner rather than later. One day our leaders will push the button and these will not be 'exercises' anymore. They'll be out to get real, to collect the illegal aliens and potential terrorists, then eliminiate them from our country forever.

Or maybe it's not the illegals, maybe it's the gun owners.

We live in Tinley, got the robo calls and the alerts. My wife and I were coming home from a birthday dinner for one of our sons and decided to drive by and see what was happening. I thought it was cool as hell, blacked out helicopters landing in the night. I'm sorry some people were disturbed by it but it was rather surreal.

Machine gun fire from helicopters over Miami, Houston... Armored tanks and de facto martial law in Boston... Now this...

Can there be any doubt that this government intends to cause the American people to understand that the days of liberty are numbered if government succeeds, and that this government is preparing to use military force on American soil? They're openly causing fear of the military turning on the citizenry by running full training exercises unaccnounced in populated urban centers. And they're watching. Watching as the American people absorb this assault as just something new that we must endure to "keep us safe". Calculating next steps, and gauging how much we will accept.

The militarization of the American urban street is underway. In my mind, there can be no doubt whatsoever.

The fascinating thing about incremental tyranny is the way in which naïve members of our society try to rationalize it.  They debate using logical fallacies like:

“How have your rights been violated in particular?  If your rights haven’t been violated, what right do you have to complain?”

And how about this gem…

“Yeah, there are problems in this country, but at least we have some freedom.  In many countries, you wouldn't be allowed to complain the way you are…”

This is statist psychology at work.  Freedom, in their minds, is a privilege doled out by governments, rather than an inborn attribute outside of the realm of law.  They do not understand that the violation of the rights of one American is a violation of the rights of ALL Americans.  They do not understand that the destruction of some constitutional protections will one day lead to the destruction of ALL constitutional protections.

I personally saw a comment like the first as was still a bit shocked. .   First that came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew..

How does that work?

Step 1: In this case, it appears they have ample evidence to convict this guy and send him to prison for life even without his testimony. AFTER this is known, they whip out the "we're going to have a Miranda exception to this..." bullsh*t.

Step 2: After people get riled up about Miranda, rinse and repeat with other incidents that may occur in the future.

Step 3: Everyone who gets vocal about Miranda is called "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and these voices are drowned out by the voices of the sheep who don't understand what's happening.

Step 4: Usurp all civil rights at the proper time because no one will contest it.

the ruse is getting the sheep to think that Miranda is the source of the "rights". If a cop does not quote "Miranda" this does not remove my rights. If a law violates the constitution it as if the law never existed, period, end of story and the line is drawn.

The American citizen has been shown how they are supposed to react during a crisis...... Go into your house, don't open the door unless it's a police officer, and whatever you do don't defend yourself. And oh by the way when that police officer does knock at your door make sure you turn in your guns, we don't want that nasty terrorist grabbing them for himself.

I hope Bostonians enjoyed their surprise prostate exam.  It wasn't ass-fingering rapine like they claim, it was for national security.  Who knows, maybe New Englanders are so used to similar processes they barely noticed, or just didn't care about being violated.  Maybe some enjoyed it.

Nonetheless, that uncomfortable feel you're experiencing right now? Don't worry about that.  Don't worry about your home being searched without a warrant on a nice quiet block.  Don't worry about the knock on the door (next time it will be in the middle of the night) and don't worry about being drug out of your house with your hands in the air.

Don't worry about [zip]....just don't turn around, nothing to see here folks, now bend over and shhhhhh, don't worry about.....yeah that's right America just accept this, pretend to enjoy it if you can, it's for national...oh yeah that's good....security and....just wait 'til the next bombing.  We'll be back, in the dead of night in black uniforms and facemasks to perform the same operation.  Don't worry about it.

The concepts that America was founded on are gone, never to come back. People get the government they deserve and almost everyone here deserves tyranny because they themselves wish it upon others.

Isn't it just the pattern of every tyranny in history? Gotta have a band of enforcers, bribe them with an elevated status and the confiscated wealth of the citizenry, but you don't want them overly bright because they might start thinking too much about the cause and effect of the orders you're giving them.

I used to work in an office building in St. Louis Park, an inner-ring suburb of Minneapolis. Every few months we'd see helicopter training exercises. They'd run a similar pattern each time, circling and criss-crossing; diving and climbing over the same area, every time.

Seems like a valid exercise to me - until they start firing blanks over the population. Without knowing, I would guess that helicopter training in urban areas has a long and broad precedent. War games, however, is something new. We should all be alarmed at that.

Our military could "take the city" anytime it chooses, civilians have minimal defense against them in a protracted fight the military will win. PERIOD.

No military wants to fight in urban combat, it is the most dangerous "battlefield" for them to fight on. The more time our military fights in urban settings (for years our military - even our navy with such as the littoral ships has been preparing for small conflict) the more they will want to "use" cities for practice.  When we have a CIC, such as Clinton, it is only natural to view such activity with trepidation.

I heard a couple military helo's buzzing overhead last night, not an unusual occurrence (I am in the flight path between the Mpls airport and Camp Ripley) but at 2am and 3:30 am?
