Maybe it is just a stupid security guard and some self induced damage, but I've been wondering about the rash of explosions, that statistically do not make sense, two (2) barges/ ships exploding in inland waters within a week.. that's bizarre..  I've always concluded that much of what we hear about in the news,is so tightly controlled, that there could be a political assassination, and we'd not know for weeks..

I missed those.  Big surprise, right?  Where did they happen?

Alabama.

Thanks, IDP; now I vaguely remember hearing something on the radio "news".  Possibly "a spark from cleaning", hunh?

Incorrect IDP.  The alleged shooting at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant is in Tennessee.  Near Athens, Tennessee and about half way between Chattanooga and Knoxville.

IDP was referring to the two barge fires.

Yup, that. ^^^

Some refinery exploded in the last day or two as well.

ETA: Here it is - Detroit.

Now granted, that one could go unnoticed for a long time. I mean if a bomb went off in Detroit would it look much different than it did before?

Every time I see those photos I think, "my God, what a waste!"  All that beautiful architecture just left to rot.  And everything just .... left, abandoned; books, furniture, records (police station), pianos!  It kills me.

Now there you all go trashing my hometown of Detroit once again.  We get no respect.  Just in cast you all were unaware, we Detroiters kicked Chicago's ass once again.  When it comes to blood, guts and gore we are king of the hill gang...  Now stop picking on the hometown that has a warm place in my heart... from a Mumford HS Mustang...

Libertas, I almost didn't.  I returned to Motown for one day of photography and while on the east side photographing the Packard plant I was accosted by three thugs who nearly carjacked me.  it was a very tense situation, but my cop training kicked in and I became very aggressive (something I suspect they didn't expect from a 61 year old honkie.  There were no witnesses around, so I could have been easily killed and nobody would have seen a thing, but I was able to extricate myself from the situation and get away.  I haven't been back since.  I loved growing up in Detroit, but the Detroit I knew does not exist today.

Reminds me of my trip to Boston, without the violence...I wanted to see the gravestone of my earliest American ancestor at the old church in Roxbury...cab driver advised me to not get out of the cab, come back with more people and an appointment...Roxbury is the worst of the feral zones there, and that was back in the late 80's, probably way worse now...it was his town and I took his advice.  Still haven't made it back there, may not ever either.  Sucks, would have liked to have found the marker.
