Quote
In one of my first essays for NRO back in 2005 (“Are You an Originalist?”), I selected the Constitution’s “natural born Citizen” criterion for eligibility to be president—a provision that then seemed at the time to be beyond the distorting effects of political bias—to illustrate that everyone intuitively recognizes the common-sense principle at the heart of the interpretive methodology of originalism: namely, that the meaning of a constitutional provision is to be determined in accordance with the meaning that it bore at the time that it was adopted. The public debate in 2008 over whether John McCain, having been born in 1936 in the Panama Canal Zone to parents who were American citizens, was a “natural born Citizen” ratified my point, as virtually all commentators purported to undertake an originalist inquiry.

I hadn’t seen any reason to comment on the left-wing “birther” attacks on Senator Ted Cruz’s eligibility to be president.  Cruz was born in Canada in 1970 to a mother who was then an American citizen. Under the laws then in place, he was an American citizen by virtue of his birth.

A thought just crossed my mind,I his mother was a legal Canadian residend but had not become a Candian citizen yet or ever she would still be an American citizen making him an American as recognized by our laws and a Candian citizen as seen by their laws.Had she become a Canadian citizen he would be all Candian.

US Constitution, Article II, Section 1

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.

 ;)

As to citizenship status only the first seven words apply now since we are so past the adoption point of the constitution!

We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

My guess the Constitution is now classified a racist document.
I'm not always engulfed in scandals, but when I am, I make sure I blame others.

Trap: "There is absolutely no way that the left or anyone in the MFM could legitimately argue that, by their standards for O'Bongo, Cruz is ineligible. "

Seriously? After all we've seen by those scum, you think they bother to argue legitimate, honest facts? They'll argue it all day long and say Obama was old news and "its too late now! Ha HA!"

The rules are gone. The Constitution doesn't exist (but I'm all for giving..."maximum kinetic effort" to restore it) and I see no reason to allow others to use it against me or us. Saps play by the rules when there are no rules. This is serious stuff. This is Liberty they're after, the very essence of a life worth living. As I've said before, elsewhere, the R's practices politics while teh left wages politics! They are waging a war on us, and our Liberty. Frankly, Von Clausewitz had it backwards...Politics is war through other means.

A big part of me hopes this comes to a head before the next pres election. Things can't continue as they are, no matter who's at the helm. I like Cruz, I do think he's a very strong proponent of the things this country needs, but in the end, the system is so broken and perverted it'd be like shoveling sh*t against the tide, even if he were to stay true to the cause.

The Daily Caller - Cruz was a “terrific student,” [Alan] Dershowitz told The Daily Caller. “He was always very active in class, presenting a libertarian point of view. He didn’t strike me as a social conservative, more of a libertarian.”

“He had brilliant insights and he was clearly among the top students, as revealed by his class responses,”
...
“Without a doubt he is among the smartest students I’ve ever had… I’ve had great students but he has to be at the top of anyone’s short list, in terms of raw brain power.”

Dershowitz also said, "[he] can run for president in 2016".

Hey, who's going to argue with Alan?
