...

That reminds me of the "Hooked On" compilations that put classical pieces to a basic drum machine beat. The pop culture appeal of it may be an affront to purists, but I always liked them as a kid and credit them with sparking my interest in classical.

The sister of composer Michel LeGran formed a group called the Swingle Singers" they would do Bach, Mozart, and others with either a trio or some orchestration. Except for the modern rhythm section they were pretty faithful to the original.

I haven't heard that one, but I have heard one of his compositions that Rush Limbaugh plays from time to time. I can't even think of what it's called right off hand.

Well, make my point again.  My introduction to this little ditty was because of a Styx album called "Crystal Ball."

Just like someone in 2011 will be introducted to Tchaikovsky because of an Enimen song, right?

right?

One of the strangest thing I ran accross was the daughters of a friend of ours wanted me to translate sone words to a song being all the rage with kids at clubs is a song that's from the 40/50s in Italy that most people hear have never heard of.

This is the new version:

Tu vuò fa L'Americano Remix

 This is the original:

Tu vuo fa' l' Americano (Renato Carosone)
All men are created equal"

Nope.

Already have one ;-)

Actually it isn't a short-waisted jacket but a tuxedo style jacket - but it is that blue-green lamé material. It was something a GF made for me for a New Year's Eve gig I played years and years (and years) ago.

You guys oughta search on the youtube sight for you tube orchestra and listen to what they're doing. It is great! People from all over the world have submitted audition videos to you tube, and the best were selected to create the you tube orchestra. Last year, their first performance was a Carnigie Hall, and this year, the performance will be in New Zealand. It is a fascinating concept!

I took a liking to this when it first came out.  Still like it.  Great with headphones.
