Star of one of the great TV commercials of all time and reportedly, an influential country singer.  ;)

Kidding, he really was, and an early supporter of an up and coming Elvis.

RIP.  90 is a good run.

Rush used Whitman's "Uno Paloma Blanca" for his "Peace" updates. I would have never heard of him but for that frequent mention...


Rush would play it with bombs exploding and machine gun fire in the background.

Yes, he defeated the whole world of mars with one love song after all of Jack Nicholson's diplomacy failed.  Rest in peace, Slim.
