Star of one of the great TV commercials of all time and reportedly, an influential country singer.
Kidding, he really was, and an early supporter of an up and coming Elvis.
RIP. 90 is a good run.

Rush used Whitman's "Uno Paloma Blanca" for his "Peace" updates. I would have never heard of him but for that frequent mention...
Slim Whitman - Paloma Blanca 1976
Rush would play it with bombs exploding and machine gun fire in the background.

In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

His singing of "Indian Love Call" was used against the aliens in "Mars Attacks".

Yes, he defeated the whole world of mars with one love song after all of Jack Nicholson's diplomacy failed. Rest in peace, Slim.
