I had the task of preaching this Sunday, past. It is not a task I relish, as those who teach are held to a higher standard of judgment. But, as I taught on what is commonly called the Lord's prayer, and should more properly be called the disciple's prayer, as He was teaching THEM to pray, the last word of that commonly recited prayer is Amen. Most do not know that it is basically co-signing all that has been said preceding it. There is no real equivalent in English for this word. Yet, it means something uniquely like cosigning a loan before God. The words preceding are so accurate and so powerful, that those hearing it must cosign it, assigning all of their being to the power of those words.
To the comments of Libertas, I can only say, Amen!
