<“Never in American political history has the leader of the party lost a primary election. Never. But never has it been so important to make that happen,” he said.

Bevin’s official entry into the race came as no surprise, since he announced a three-day, eight-city tour on Monday and then followed it up Tuesday with a scathing press release in which he criticized McConnell’s campaign tactics.

Bevin has the support of more than a dozen tea party groups from around the state.

Moments after his announcement, the United Tea Party of Kentucky said it was endorsing Bevin. The conservative Club for Growth also announced it would consider endorsing Bevin over McConnell.

“We’d like to hear more about his candidacy and the differences between him and Senator McConnell on the issues,” Club for Growth President Chris Chocola said in a statement.

The tea party favors a smaller, more austere government and many in the movement believe McConnell’s more recent overtures to them are not heart-felt.

“My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together.

“However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

It's a sad state of affairs when I see news like this and think, "the fella doesn't have a chance", and then read the article that begins, "Louisville millionaire...", and think, hmmm, maybe.

There are all kinds of good, decent, patriot people with good ideas, good charisma, clean records, and no money. It's a shame that we've come to a point where a "Tea Party" candidate is only as good as the riches he's accumulated.

Still, I'm sure the fella is fine. I'm just bellyachin'.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

That would be anyone of us. Well, except the charisma part....

Shhhh!   ;D

BOT - Anybody think the PTBs in the GOP Ruling Class are going to stand by for this?  We can already hear the lame ass arguments like "It makes no sense to upset the political calculus since we (the GOP "we") are so close to regaining control of the Senate...this challenge is wasteful and unnecessary and only plays into Democrat hands...blah blah blah...yadda yadda yadda..."

I'll bet Mytch already has a call into The Butthead...and Mytch will also look to cash in every single chit he's finagled over these past 28 years!
