Heart's still got game

You have to ignore the brief bit of fugly half way through.  If you can stomach the 5 seconds of that, you'll understand why even Robert Plant is bawling at the end.  Wow!

Pretty good.

And that's high praise from me, considering I, well I wouldn't go so far as to say matured during the Zep years...but it was my era...I was one of the few hardcore who hung onto hard rock like a pacifier in a sea of insane canned-machine-music called di..d...I still can't say that vile word, ...anyway...Stairway to Heaven was perhaps my least favorite Zep song because a) too soft for me and b) it was the only Zep song the chicks ever wanted to hear and chicks being chicks it got played a lot!

Oh, and a good thing the fugly part didn't last too long!

The same band who bitched at SarahCuda in 2008 for using the refrain from 'Barracuda' to open her speeches.

Hmmm.  Good catch.  Forgot about that.

Yup, it is a shame when the truly talented can't keep their yaps shut. It makes it difficult to appreciate their talent through the fog of their idiocy.

Full disclosure: I REALLY liked the Dixie Chicks. Looking at their musicianship and songwriting talent alone, they deserved the wide audience they had. All three were virtuosos on their respective instruments, and the two sisters were cute as heck. The singer was outstandingly talented. Saw them live once, and was blown away.

But they certainly had not earned the loyalty from any audience that Heart has earned over the years. They'd only been around for a few short years before Natalie Maines opened her yap. It was easy for former fans (myself included) to discount them as yesterday's news.

But it isn't as easy to write off the Wilson sisters. Perhaps the ability to spout from your cakehole without career consequences is something earned along a spectrum tied to the longevity of your career. I just can't bring myself to hate Heart like I hate the Dixie Chicks.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

- Thomas Jefferson

This is where we disagree.  Sarah Palin was a woman running for vice-president, only the second time in our history for such an event.  Whether the Wilson's agreed with her politics or not, they should have been proud that a woman was running for the second highest office in the land.  But like all liberal douchebag women, they are phonies.  Screw 'em.  (Well, not literally.)
