I believe that, since "the fall" man has inherited a sense of what is right and wrong. That's why, short of being demonstrably insane, our judiciary holds people accountable for breaking the law...because everyone knows the difference between right and wrong, it's innate. Thus, I believe that we come fully equipped with a conscience. We can, though, ignore our conscience, at will, and justify our actions and inactions to ourselves to suit ourselves. Ah, the irony.

I also believe that we are, as humans, not completed (or fulfilled) without a personal relationship with our Creator...that God left a hole inside of all of us that can only be filled with His presence. Thus, the seekers, those who spend their lives trying one thing after another to fill the emptiness. The most pathetic ones of all are those who tell themselves that there is either no God or that each of us is God and we are therefore answerable, ultimately, only to ourselves.
In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

Dennis Prager calls that "cut flower ethics". A cut flower can remain pretty for a time, but it is dead the moment it is cut from the root.

It's been referred to by some others as "capital", that which was built up by previous generations and which is being exhausted since.

"Living off the fumes" is quite appropriate, too, LV.

Anything decent, good, holy and just remaining in our society is a result of what's left from a population whose over-arching and mutual First Principle was Christian (and Judeo) values.

I recommend two books.
Petrus Romanus and Exo-Vatican by Tom Horn.

Some could dismiss the whole thing as woo-woo but there are a ton of historical documents and facts about the official Catholic Church and what they really are trying to accomplish.

I do not want to diminish the average Catholic who is a true, sincere believer

Here is a link to an excerpt from Exo-Vaticana

This may whet your appetite

At one point, he had a lot of the book serialized on his site.
Maybe since it's published, those are gone
