Only a natural and last-ditch peaceful action after decades of representation being denied in favor of growing statism and the unsatisfying byproduct of transitioning to a full-blown tyranny and anarchy of democracy...

MOAR!!!

When you look at things objectively, the divide is not really played out along ideological lines any more than it is played out along urban/suburban-rural lines.

Big cities are the only reason the ideological divide is even close. That this last-ditch effort at peaceful resolution is being played out along county lines within states is quite logical when you think about it.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

The Rural/City divide is ideological in nature. Most of the people in rural areas are there because they were chased out of the cities- too many stupid sheep, too many stupid regulations, rules and petty Nazi's going around to enforce them ( You left your trash can out till 8pm. The covenants say it must be stored by 6pm)  Rural areas are simply more conducive and hospitable to freedom minded individuals. Cities cater to the personality that is dependent, entitled  and narcissistic - the individuals that needs to see and be seen and to feel that there are others charged with the responsibility of keep them safe and fulfilled. Others get the food to their plate. Others get the fuel to their neighborhood.  Others make sure the bad guys are kept at bay, that the roads are fixed, that the toilets keep flushing.  Cities are much closer to the kindergarten world Lefties want.  They think electricity comes from the wall, meat comes from the supermarket, and no one needs a gun for "critters" or protection from other humans  - after all that is a government/nanny function.

You simply can't survive in a rural area without be independent enough to make sure you are stocked with enough food for the blizzard, able to repair the well if needed, able to get the septic going if clogged, able to get the livestock fed and cared for. Lefties have no idea - none at all - how much works goes into their care, and therefore see no reason those inthe rural areas shouldn't be just as controlled  as they are

That much control and of that sort in rural areas will result in unnecessary hardship and death.

Uncle Joe Stalin felt the same way about the farmers in the Ukraine right before he stole the harvest at gun point and created a genocidal circumstance whereby the inhabitants were forced to live off the dead.

Yeah and during the Ukraine famine, the USSR was a net exporter of grain. The harvest was good; the famine entirely manmade.

That rural/urban divide thing is why the suburban wars have been raging...as the locusts spread out seeking new opportunities to loot some in the suburbs either went further out while others went back into the city to reclaim distressed property selling a steep discount...the latter being more liberal-minded folks in general while the former more conservative-minded.  But the PTBs in the Demo-Looter party know they need the resources of the rural areas to keep the urban concentration inmates fed and pacified, hence the desire to expand county, state and federal control over rural areas.  We are seeing more blowback of this overreach across the board in many regions - secession movements, referendums, boycotts, companies relocating, people relocating, recall elections and calls for a constitutional convention.  I just hope it all goes viral!

does anyone remember the old movie based on HG Wells "The Time Machine" that had a future society based on the Eloi, who were beautiful young people who spent their days lounging in the sun enjoying their existence just for the sake of enjoyment all the while totally unaware that they were fodder for the real societal mechanism far below ground and of a not so beautiful nature.

How could H.G. Wells have known about Yuppies, Millenials and Metrosexuals?  he was a very prescient man but we should point out the similarity to these parts of our culture who resemble them as they were certainly not made aware of the cultural implications of their chosen lifestyle.

These leftists prove themselves clueless on a daily basis, and what is sad is that they are oblivious to the fact that they are oblivious

I believe H.G. Wells was a Fabian at one time, so perhaps he wrote from a position of insider's knowledge much like Orwell.  He may have been a Fabian socialist even when writing this. Those late 19th and early 20th century socialists were a somewhat different breed. They believed in the same moronic concepts as modern socialists, but they didn't pander to sloth like the modern Left does. They expected people to be industrious. They would probably consider the modern Left corrupted by the conceits of an idle, bored bourgeoisie -- not unlike the Eloi.

I expect to see trade wars, foreign policy disasters, a few race riots, a decrease in personal liberty, higher taxes, higher inflation and probably, economic collapse. The silver lining is, secession will probably become more feasible.
