"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Choking on a Dorito.... heart attack.... aneurism....

At least the smug look would be off his face for a few moments. I've no doubt that it would return upon death though, since that pompous visage is his natural state.

Dennis Miller's pretty good, but he doesn't have his own 1/2 hour "news" program. He ought to though.

I do enjoy watching him on Oreilly, but I think his references may be too oblique for the masses, he reaches too far back in time for the younger crowd. where is the younger version of Miller? one who would appeal to the potentially new crop of conservatives

Well, it's a question I have long asked. There's a lot of money in Republican circles, at least among the fiscal/business conservatives, and it boggles the mind that they haven't tried to stake a claim in the media and entertainment field. In a lot of areas -- civil service, academia, entertainment -- the Left hasn't so much beaten us as we have ceded the field.

This is where the Right's focus on business and private enterprise can be a sort of tunnel vision. Pop culture is what informs people's perception of reality (sadly) and we have little footprint there. Bill Whittle harps on this subject a lot, as does Joe Dan Gorman of Intellectual Froglegs.

Nice vid.  We already knew Owebama is a stuttering clusterfukc of a miserable tyrant.  But it never hurts to have it repeated on an international level.

Youth is wasted on the young.  If today's yutes don't have a clue as to the references Dennis Miller makes, maybe they should pick up a friggin' book and get off Facebook.  Just a thought.  Even though the younger audience may be dumb doesn't mean Dennis Miller should dumb down his references.  I think public edjumication does a damned good job of 'dumbing down' already, so why encourage it further?

I often thought about this.  Pat Sajak has given a ton of money to Hillsdale College (yeah for Hillsdale) but where's the financing for media? John Morales is trying to get his 40 Film into the public arena.  He's trying to get grass root support for it.  Why isn't some wealthy conservative giving him a hand?  Maybe they have but not 100%.

Here's what I think happens: these business people don't get directly involved.  They do give money to help (I know of one situation where a person is trying to create a media outlet with the help of a wealthy individual) but they expect the people who want to do these things to run it.  In many cases you're talking about people with an idea but are totally inept at it because they have no imagination or experience.  The wealthy person is too busy running their business to do more than go to a board meeting or two and write a check.  Their interest doesn't lie in creating a new conservative stream of income; it's to continue the business they already have. That's where they have experience. They see their business as enabling them to donate to worthy causes.  Not build them.
