Hello from the East Coast
« on: October 02, 2013, 06:24:28 PM »
Hello everyone. I live on the east coast (NY metro area) am an evangelical Christian & very conservative in both economics & social/cultural topics. I consider the Declaration of Independence, Constitution &Bill of Rights to be as close to sacred documents as anything made of man can be. I study Christian Apologetics (rational defense of faith), run, workout, & am a husband (approaching 30 years!), a dad and a follower (not just a fan) of Jesus Christ (though I frequently fall w-a-y- short of that mark).

My main cultural concern is the attempt to take our religious liberties and turn it into mere "freedom to worship": translation: "Don't you dare spread that hateful church & Bible talk in the public sector." Well I, uhm can, I do...and I think, from the looks of this forum, that I'm in good company!

I'll explain more about myself in the Faith & Family section of the forum via what I post.
Thanks.  ;)

Welcome back Pablo. You've been missed.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Not so much lifting an embargo as two old friends coming to an understanding and reconciliation.

Again, a heartfelt welcome back.

Exactly. Better summation, IDP.

And thanks, all, for the warm welcome!

As my mom used to say, "Another country heard from".

It's good to see you again Pablo and good to hear that all is well with you.
