Hey! IT guys! Bad code on Obamacare website. Surprise!
« on: October 11, 2013, 04:32:20 PM »
Actually, bad isn't the word; according to the author, it's a non-functional design, perhaps deliberate.

Obamacare computer code riddled with typos, Latin filler text, desperate programmer comments and disastrous architecture

Quote
I have personally looked at the Javascript code running part of the Healthcare.gov website. If you are curious how I got the code, I simply typed the URL of the Javascript code into the browser address field. The browser then pulls up the entire code block, because Javascript is client-side code (not server-side).

What I am seeing in this code is nothing short of jaw-dropping. As people are now saying, this code is "CRAAAAAZY!" You almost can't even call it Javascript code. If you sat down 100 monkeys in front of 100 typewriters and told them to start banging away, I'm confident at least one of them would come up with something far better than the Healthcare.gov Javascript code.

In fact, I am practically ROFLMAO just looking at this code. Any competent programmer in the world, upon seeing this, would just burst their britches in knowing the U.S. government spent $600+ million dollars on this project. Inside the code, the Javascript programmer comments are just off-the-charts hilarious. Comments found in the code include (yes, these are actual text comments from the script):

RTWT.  Ever a non-techie like myself can grok what he outlines in this piece.

Pan, what's the h/t to Anne B for? No link to anything she wrote?
I do, however, have something she wrote about the why of it.
I know some here think she's gone aff the deep end, and I have to admit its a possibility, but she does still make sense at times

http://www.barnhardt.biz/2013/10/11/history-rhymes-obamacare-website-and-the-ukrainian-wheat-farmers/

(Not good enough w iPad to make it pretty.)

But this guys article is...I don't know, ridiculous? Not that it isn't true, but that it is so bad it's laughable to a it pro, but he doesn't get into the "why" of it, as far as I read.
Has to be intentional, I'd say.
Which makes it very concerning.

Sorry, Dan.  Her post and link was what led me to the piece I posted.  I thought a H/T was good enough.

We did see the same piece.  And you know what, I not only should have linked to her, but provided the following:

Quote
... Ukraine under Stalin in the early 1930s.  The Ukraine is the breadbasket of eastern Europe.  Tremendous farming and wheat production was centered in the Ukraine.  Under Lenin, and then Stalin, all farms and food production were seized and controlled by the state.  The Soviets hated the Ukrainians and wanted them all dead.  All of them.  So here’s what they did:

At wheat planting time, the farmers all went to the Soviet office in town to get their allocation of seed wheat to plant for that year’s crop.  The Soviets stalled and stalled and then simply refused to give the Ukrainian farmers any seed.  As the planting window narrowed day by day, and then finally closed, the farmers became first ever more urgent, and then resigned themselves in despair to the fact that they would have no crop that year.

Fast forward to wheat harvest time.  The Soviet bureaucrats showed up at the farms and demanded that the farmers deliver that year’s wheat crop harvest.  The farmers, in complete disbelief at the Soviets after having begged and pleaded for seed a few months earlier only to be ignored and then explicitly denied any seed by these very same Soviet bureaucrats, told them that there was no harvest because YOU REFUSED TO GIVE US ANY SEED.

The bureaucrats then accused the farmers of hiding and hoarding the wheat harvest, and summarily executed all of the men and teenaged boys on the spot as “enemies of the Revolution and the people”.  Those were the lucky ones.  The Ukrainians left alive then slowly starved to death, many descending into the madness of starvation.  Many Ukrainian women, insane with hunger, slaughtered, cooked and ate their own children.

How is this pertinent?

That hatchet-faced bitch, Sebellius, when broached with the fact that, since the Obamacare website is dysfunctional and therefore insurance cannot be obtained by the deadline, tossed off this solution:  "then, just pay the fine".

Ohhh, do these people have a helluva reckoning a-comin'.

The f**king arrogance of these people.
In broad daylight, as it were, to keep sticking their fingers in our eyes as wel as high in the air!
Makes me wonder....I know they don't necessarily lack IQ points, so, do they know something? Like where those billions of rounds of ammo went? AnD all that money? And what about the "domestic security force..."?

Yeah I heard Mike Adams on Alex Jones' show today talking about this. I hadn't looked at the sign up site, but this is indeed LOL-worthy for a system of this scale and seriousness.

I use client-side validators on stuff I've written for internal consumption on my company's intranet, because it's a controlled environment and not open to Internet traffic. You'd never use it alone for any sensitive system exposed to the public. Essentially it's relying on the user's web browser to enforce "input sanitizing", and the obvious problem there is that the user can modify or bypass the scripts his browser is expected to run. It also reveals an inattention to best practices, so it's a reasonable assumption that the underlying database that input is put into is likewise poorly designed. This is how people pull off stuff like SQL injection attacks.

In other words, it's like anything else done by government: big, unwieldy, inefficient, overbudget, and most of all incompetent.

When she said that she made it obvious the website not working was deliberate. They want the taxes.  Plain and simple. So they did a bait and switch on their own base.  The economics are getting loony now (2 Million OZ of gold in 4 minutes traded yesterday to push the price down $20)  and they are desperate to kick this can.   They are finally unmasking themselves- either because circumstances are forcing them to, or because they think they are ready and we can no longer resist.

She has been proven right nearly 100% of the time.  She can be wild eyed and tell me I am going to hell because I am not Catholic and I will continue to read what she says because her track record for accurate predictions is pretty darn good.

This episode of creating a problem with no redress for grievances reminds me of something from last year, I think...
The Americans with Disabilities Act, either in its original form or as an updated act, required all pools to be fitted with a device which would provide access to the water. Every pool in America with public access. small hotel owners,  and others, lobbied to have the conditioned postponed, not even waived, because they couldn't either afford it by the deadline or there was along lead time due to demand.
POS fed screws said "tough tomatoes. Pay the fine." My first thought was "they just want to shake these people down"!

There are so many things going on right now, as. Oat here know and have pointed out, that the DoI just needs to be dusted off, not even updated.

... Sebelius and Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney were at an enrollment and education event on Thursday at Heinz Field to promote Healthcare.gov, but people who showed up encountered problems in signing up for coverage on the website.

... Sebelius ... told the audience of about 100 people that Healthcare.gov was “open for business.”

“Believe me, we had some early glitches,” said Sebelius, who was introduced by Rooney, a backer of the law. “But it's getting better every day.”

At the back of the room, it was a different story. About 20 people armed with laptops and certified by the government to sign up people for coverage were meeting with uninsured people, answering questions and fruitlessly trying to access the website.

LaKesha Lowry, 41, came to the event to find out about her health insurance options. But the North Side resident said she was not able to access the site, even with the help of a certified application counselor.

“It said, ‘Try again later,' ” Lowry said.

Asked about the ongoing problems with the website and the fact that people at a government enrollment event couldn't sign up, Sebelius told reporters that she didn't know what problems were affecting service at Heinz Field. The government has made hardware and software upgrades to improve the site, she said, and it is working for many people.

“We're working to ensure it's easy to use,” Sebelius said, noting that more than 13 million people have visited the site, an “extraordinary” level of traffic.

An enormous stadium was opened, the event attracted only 100 people and the website wasn't working then either.  As far as the "13 million people" number goes, and I doubt the veracity of that, it's more likely there have been 13 million attempts to visit the site.

Sebelius can say "pay the fine" if we can say "bleed and die".
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

Well, I finally get it.  The website is nothing more than a data-vacuum, collecting personal profiles with all pertinent data right there in one convenient package, so it's working as planned ... at least for now.  It's also designed to prevent anybody from learning exactly how much the government intends to collect from those not entitled to subsidies; John Roberts was on the money; it's another enormous tax and redistribution scheme, because it certainly isn't medical insurance.

With premiums skyrocketing, even on the least expensive "plan", the deductibles are astronomical, it's said up to $12,000 for a family before any "insurance" kicks in at all.  The creators have effectively done away with the benefit of Catastrophic Medical Insurance, which was a low premium, as well as the benefit of a high premium policy, which covered with very little out of pocket.

Small wonder Obongo won't waive the "individual requirement"; in order for this to work as planned, all the young and healthy need to be fleeced as well as anybody else from whom a dollar can be confiscated.

Not a surprise its not working.   Its a preview of single payer, and a part of bringing it in,  when the crisis makes that happen.

This is going to get messy.

You can say that again, there will be a much larger need for medical assistance when the bullets start flying.

I'm not so thrilled with the Rooney clan either, they have made some bad decisions recently (last 10 years or so).
