Plop plop, fizz fizz, you're a splendid cooking whiz

Is this the world’s most compact flat? Go to the toilet while cooking your dinner
Thursday 17 Oct 2013 12:43 pm

It’s the kind of poky apartment estate agents might like to describe as ‘cosy’ rather than ‘cramped’.

Time-saving tenants will have the luxury of being able to go to the toilet while cooking their dinner given the flat’s unorthodox interior layout- although food hygiene might be an issue.

The all-in-one kitchen/bathroom/bedroom is available to rent for €200 (£169) a month in the French city of Reims.

Situated in the heart of the traditional site for crowning French kings, the property doesn’t exactly exude pomp and splendour.

Ahhhhhhh.......the delightful aroma of bacon, eggs and turds.  ::exitstageleft::

All kinds of scientific studies have been done with high-speed HD video that show that toilets basically send a cloud of vaporized urine and feces into the air, covering toothbrushes, and anything else in the path of the cloud.

Cooking in proximity to your toilet? How about a dash of e-coli on your meal? Nummy.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I looked at the picture & had the following premonition:

Person comes home from work, enters flat, sniffs & asks "What're you cooking?...it smells like sh*t!"

have you ever seen the Japanese version of a "small hotel room"  it literally is a tube shaped hole about 6 ft in length into which you slide yourself, prone. just enough room to lay and sleep.  really creepy but if we keep multiplying the hoard, we will all be assigned one as living quarters by that large global government to which we seem to be aspiring.

Oh believe me that's what "they" have in mind for us, increased population or not. They want to dictate where you live, with whom, how much water/electricity/heat you use, everything.

Oleg Atbashian (the owner of The People's Cube website) gave a really interesting interview to a Tea Party group where he talked about his life in the USSR. He made a point I don't hear often enough, and that is that all these lofty notions like "right to housing" and "right to a job" really just mean the government gets to tell you where to live and where to work. He explains how it worked in the Soviet Union: the local party government would say that since they are obligated to provide these "rights", they must therefore make assignments of housing and jobs to assure that everyone gets theirs.

It's in this interview from 17:22 to 27:30:

Oleg Atbashian Talks About Shakedown Socialism to LV Tea Party

He has a lot of interesting firsthand experiences and he is definitely concerned because he sees the same traits here.

Mother Earth is so precious & space so increasingly rare that we do not have the right to stake our claim to her by way of private property. Thus we must be herded into small spaces within walkable, sustainable, regenerative communities where the individual is subjugated to the greater good and freedom & forgiveness are only for those who................deserve it.

Sarcasm acknowledged and appreciated.

Unfortunately, that's the groupthink.

Is it merely a coincidence that I see this story (actually not the first time I've heard of the issue):

"Why have young people in Japan stopped having sex?"

This isn't the only 100 sq ft apartment (sq M x 11).  It might be the first with it's own bathroom.

If you were of meager resources, wouldn't you rather have this, than the traditional room/dormroom but with a community bathroom?  At least you're smelling your own crap, in your own bathroom.

In Hong Kong the lowest rung essentially rents a bed, with a little room to lock up some stuff.  The media sensationalize such as being a cage.

Would you rather a society that can sell space small enough the lowest rung can afford it, with motivation to work their way up to something better?  Or America where you buy every Obama voter a 1000 sq ft town home?

Oh sure MNHawk, make us think so early in the morning!   ;D

I think you make a good point on the superior and positive benefits of a more honest capitalist system than that of the forced collectivist crony-capitalist system we see operating in our nation today.  While we may make fun of the mini-home with crapper and kitchen in close proximity, your point is quite valid.  To put a Western spin on it though can the starter-home at least have a crapper in it's own little enclosure?  I mean if they can do it with small boats, RVs, buses & planes...for God sake man, give us an enclosed head!

They probably could enclose it, on the other side of the shower.  The bed is up above it all.

They look like small animal cages at the vet's office.

I once visited a Manhattan studio apartrment.  The kitchen was so cramped and awkward, you could not open the oven door more than halfway, and it was a mini-stove designed for small spaces.
