Bob Newhart Show's "Carol", Marcia Wallace
« on: October 28, 2013, 07:26:32 AM »
I had no idea she was a voice on "The Simpson's", since I've only seen that show maybe twice in its 25 years. I'll always remember her as Carol the receptionist on the Bob Newhart Show. Guess it's an age thing.

Quote
Marcia Wallace, 70 RIP

Marcia Wallace, who provided the voice for teacher Edna Krabappel on “The Simpsons,” died Friday, just one week shy of her 71st birthday.

Al Jean, executive producer of “The Simpsons,” said in a statement Saturday that Miss Wallace’s “irreplaceable character” would be retired from the show, The Associated Press reported.

“I was tremendously saddened to learn this morning of the passing of the brilliant and gracious Marcia Wallace. She was beloved by all at The Simpsons,” Mr. Jean said. It’s “a terrible loss for all who had the pleasure of knowing her.”

The statement did not provide a cause of death.

Miss Wallace won a prime-time Emmy award in 1992 for her voice-over performance on “The Simpsons.” She was also nominated for an 1994 Emmy for her work as a secretary on “Murphy Brown.” She also played the wisecracking receptionist Carol Kester on “The Bob Newhart Show” from 1972 to 1978.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Redhead (on Newhart), right?
