Thanksgiving?  Absolutely nothing, and damn proud of it; there ain't a goddamned thing in my life to be thankful for, especially the fukcs in my 'family'.  I might have a burger or a pizza, typical daily fare, nothing special.  Same goes for Christmas.  My apartment has been a Christmas Free Zone for 2 decades now and, again, I'm damn proud of it.  Although I do like Irish coffees at Christmas.  But that's booze, not a friggin' waste of money tree.

I'll smoke a turkey on Wednesday

How do you get it lit and where do you get papers big enough?

Does Zig Zag make them?

I'm gonna deep fry my bird again this year. The general consensus last year (my first year deep frying) was that the bird was better tasting and more moist. It also sure doesn't hurt that it frees the oven up for the other things that have to cook. Big time-saver too.

I wasn't too hip on the clean-up. That's an awful lot of grease, and an awful big greasy pot. But it seems that when weighed against the benefits, it's worth year-two.

Generally, I roast a whole turkey.
I'm leaning to doing 3 breasts instead.
Undecided, though

I had a fellow tell me he fries his turkey in an IR fryer. Says it's still moist with hardly any clean up. With the price of peanut oil and the mess to clean up, I'm toying with the idea.

We've never had any deep fried turkey. I'm told that it's really good.

How does it fry with no oil? I get that there is fat in the skin and meat, but that's there when you cook in the oven too.

Some reviews say that the bird has to be EXACTLY positioned, too. Otherwise, one part will be done, and the other part(s) not ready to eat.

That would kind of suck.

What did you do with the grease?

For sure. On the link provided for us, read some of the comments. Even doing chicken parts or meat, it can be a problem depending on the placing of the food.

What did you do with the grease?

Funneled it back onto the containers it came in, sealed it, and threw it away.

Bio-diesel.

I threw mine away, too, after a couple uses.
