...because you'll read about me in the papers if it does (I'll tell the reporter my name is 'Pablo'  ;)). We send our 2 children to school each day with a hand selected, packed lunch.

Feds Order School to Ban Packed Lunches Without Doctor’s Note...
October 24, 2013

(PAUL JOSEPH WATSON) -- A school in Richmond, Virginia is following federal government instructions by telling parents that they need to have a doctor’s note in order for their children to be allowed to bring packed lunches to school, another example of how the nanny state is encroaching via the public education system....

Yeah. I have to say, I genuinely appreciate Alex Jones now. I used to think of him as an unhinged real life version of Dale Gribble from King of the Hill, but that's just part of the FUD promulgated by the mainstream media and government. He still goes off on some bizarre tangents, but he has a genuine instinct for liberty and a lot of his Black Helicopter beliefs have been recently proven as accurate.

I don't always agree with his interpretation of events, but the events themselves he seems to not only be getting right, but first. I will see stuff on infowars 2-3 days before I see it on Drudge, instapundit, or here. And you are right, a lot of stuff formerly in tin foil hat territory is now mainstream and real.  I used to cringe going to Drudge, afraid of what I would find when I got there.  Now I do the same at Info wars, knowing that while I would like to dismiss what I see as loony tunes , I no longer can.

Holy chit! I hadn't seen this yet, and I have 4 kids we send to school and usually have to pack a lunch for them, as th ESOP they serve is indelible to my kids.
Not really looking forward to seeing it, either.
Just might be the proverbial straw landing on this camels back!

HOMESCHOOLING!

Home-Schooling is great. I genuinely applaud those who engage in it.

I do think, though, that it partially side-steps the issue…& then more freedom is abdicated by us not being there.

Used to be (in elementary school grades) that whenever there was a book or a movie (usually promoting sex or homosexuality), I physically appeared on campus & “excused” my children from such. After ½ a dozen visits, we began letting them know via email…& still got our way. I will always go out of my way to create the impression that I’m not backing off or down and that I am the boss when it comes to my children’s education. I have handled the few bullying episodes (very early – 4th grade) the same way…resorting to indirect intimidation with Principals & Vice-Principals (who, at their core, are reasonable, once you clear the air & ask them what they’d do if it were THEIR kid).

I know our school system…& this won’t even occur once – but I miss for those slow, purposeful conversations in which I systematically lay down the law, & remind them who’s in charge of my child’s education…all the while remaining [tenuously] cordial.

I grew up with a mom (and sometimes dad too) who was regularly meeting with the teacher/ vice principal/ principal about some class, visitor or program at the school.  She had other parents from across town with kids in other schools calling her for advice on how to handle situations at their kids' schools.  It got to be a joke with me and my siblings "you know if you tell mom, she'll go down to the school".

That was forty years ago. Nothing has changed. It's worse.

She originally blasted me for homeschooling telling me "I was at y'alls schools at the time." Implying that whatever I was concerned about could be solved as she solved it.  BUT it didn't.  Schools are worse than ever.  Plus two of my siblings were effed up by the high schools they went to. She didn't know everything that went on in their lives at school.

I'm not sacrificing my kids in some unrealistic hope that I CAN BE THE CHANGE.  Not a battle I want to put my energies into.  Putting it into my kids directly and not a school system that is failing and has been failing for decades. They can have the public schools. Public schools were designed by the progressives to forge a homogenous working class.

Just leave us alone. We'll eat what we want.

I agree with you, LV.  One fights those battles themselves, not by using their kids.

Who is more crazy...the lunatics pushing this crap or the parents exposing their children to it?

The ONLY way it will end is by starving the beast...if politicians are not up to the task (which is all too apparent) or are part of the problem, the solution is obvious...take your kids out!

LV is right, Homeschool.  Let the indoctrination centers rot.  Even if they try to ban or regulate homeschooling to death, defy them, starve them...let them die!

I should add I live in an area that has a reputation for excellent schools so no one gets why I wouldn't send my kids to such good schools.

Oh for sure there are pockets...but are they exempt from the curriculum-driven drivel?  The mandates from on-high will get them too.  Eventually all public schools will be fully converted to the Dark Side.

The so-called excellent high schools in my area have drug dog sweeps monthly with arrests.  That's never reported to the paper by the PD. The freshman high school class orientation includes a no-parents-allowed session on diversity.  A parent discovered this diversity class was propaganda on gay teens. The required reading in one high school class includes novels with explicit content. It's endless.

There have been parents who have tried to get rid of this stuff but they are outnumbered by the ones who think their kids "can handle it".

The kids all drive SUVs and graduate and go to the big state university or favored private university and they graduate just as stupid as when they went in.

And that right there is the problem with America in one simple little snapshot!

Your kids are soooo lucky to have you for a Mom!

(You can tell them I said so and was not compensated in any way for that opinion!)   ;D
