Not sure these folks are stong enough to take on these clowns...sure would be nice to see.

Of course, nice to see happen just about anywhere...like even here!
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

I'm guessing there was a time Venezuelans were telling themselves "it can't happen here", too.  And then it did, because enough of them were stupid/greedy/envious/resentful to elect Chavez.

This is what happens when whole societies go bat-sht fcking insane.

So the place is going dark, and for the past year or so they've had an extreme shortage of toilet paper.  I recall that was one of the popular images of the USSR in the West, the long lines to obtain toilet paper. What is it with socialists and toilet paper? Actually I suppose toilet paper is just a particularly humorous example, the real story being the massive inefficiency of command and control economies resulting in the most basic commodities being in permanent shortage.

It's easy to ridicule Venezuelans for allowing this to happen, but aren't we watching the same transformation right here, right now?

Precisely why I'm not ridiculing (-- now; there was a time I would have, though).  I find the spectre horrifying, especially as I look around here, watching the same batsht fcking insanity running rampant.

Just this morning, a friend spoke of a twenty-something relation who had been recruited to work in Napolitano's fiefdom and his current state of disillusionment and depression over the depth and breadth of the lies he bought into.  The young man has enough functioning brain cells left to realize he'd been duped.

I pray for the people of Venezuela who have seen and opposed what was happening. Life there is about to become very, very dark indeed. I may be wrong, but I don't believe they have a 2nd Amendment equivalent.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

They don't. El Hefe, prior to assuming room temperature, unilaterally outlawed private ownership of firearms.

But increasing crime might just be a small side effect of the scheme. “We are witnessing a terrible reality: socialism always descends into tyranny. With the entire Venezuelan civilian population disarmed, Hugo Chávez can implement whatever policies he wishes,” Horn continued. “The government will be free to oppress its citizens without any real threat of opposition.”

Prior to the latest decree, infringements on the right to keep and bear arms in the oil-rich nation were already severe since Chávez took over, but the few citizens with a gun permit were allowed to freely purchase weapons for self-defense and other purposes. The new UN-backed measure, however, purports to prohibit the transfer of all arms and ammunition to civilians.

Before the prohibition went into effect, the regime offered a sort of “amnesty” period for citizens to surrender their guns. Officials reportedly warned that failure to submit could result in house-to-house searches and arrests.

All commercial gun stores and dealers were also officially declared illegal and were recently ordered to surrender their inventories to the regime. Meanwhile, military, police, and security personnel are exempted from the ban and may purchase weapons from the state-owned firearms dealership, according to “Justice Minister” Tarek El Aissami.

“Nobody will be able to have new weapons or new permits,” El Aissami was quoted as saying by the state news agency. “The goal is to disarm the civilian population." Ironically, experts say many of the guns held by criminals in Venezuela were originally sold illegally by corrupt government officials, AFP reported.

The genius of our Founders is made readily apparent time and time again.  I do not doubt that we'd already be in full blown collectivist tyranny if not for the fact that we have such a heavily armed civilian population.  It also makes the motive in their unending attempts to undermine the 2nd Amendment utterly transparent.
