AS IF DURBIN CARED ABOUT MAIN STREET.

I read elsewhere (can't remember right this minute) that this legislation is backed by the "main street" businesses like walMart because they have to collect sales tax in every state because they have a presence in every state.

It's called the Main Street Fairness Act.  Formerly known as the Anti-Dog-Eat-Dog Act.

I'm really getting sick and tired of Life not only imitating, but surpassing, Art in its level of farce.

Main Street Fairness, yes because it's government's job to pick the winners and losers you know. If our present government had been around at the beginning of the 20th century, today we'd have an elaborate subsidy system in place to keep on government life support all the industries associated with horse travel.

What about the old ocean liners that finally died off in the 1960s due to the new jet airliners? It was the way to travel between the Americas and Europe for over 100 years. Sounds like they were too big to fail! Yet they did and the economy somehow survived.
