FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE

1 long loaf French bread      4 tsp sugar
8 large eggs            3/4 tsp salt
3 cups milk            1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp butter, cut into small pieces

Generously butter a 13” x 9” baking dish. Cut bread into 1” thick slices. Arrange bread slices in single layer over bottom of prepared dish.

Beat eggs, milk, sugar, salt and vanilla in large bowl until mixed. Pour over bread. Cover with foil, refrigerate overnight.

Heat oven to 350ºF. Uncover dish, dot top with butter pieces. Bake uncovered for 45 – 50 minutes, until bread is puffy and lightly browned. Serve with your favorite syrup or honey.
