63 is too young. They come in threes, right? Williams, Bacall, Palillo.

Ron "Horshack" Palillo, 63
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Yep.  Been waiting for the third shoe to drop .... so to speak.

RIP, Ron.

What about Eli Wallach? Wasn't he first?

Yeah, we started with him and next came James Garner, and before them was Kasem in June, so there's the first three...

And sadly for us who have fewer days ahead than we have behind...seems like the pace only quickens for losing folks...

And 63 is too young.

Good catch, JF.

No, Ron Palillo, who played Arnold Horshack on "Welcome Back, Kotter," did not die — again — Friday despite social media being flooded with rest-in-peace messages.

Quote
Palillo died two years ago.

------------

FOR THE RECORD: Even we got a little confused; a previous version of this post incorrectly said Palillo died Aug. 15, 2012. He died Aug. 14, 2012.

The whole phenomenon seemed pretty confusing; perhaps someone got confused because the actor did die suddenly on Aug. 14, but in 2012.

Some tweets claiming the news just happened had news articles attached. The articles had correct 2012 dates.

... Even CNN anchor Jake Tapper seemed to believe Palillo had died, tweeting "RIP Horshack" with a link to an old story.

Tapper has since deleted the tweet and corrected himself.

"For the record Palillo died in 2012. I was just alerted to it this evening by @evanasmith," Tapper tweeted.

After he realized his mistake, Evan Smith, editor of the Texas Tribune, sent out a mea culpa: ".@AlanPeppard Apparently it was a sad day in 2012. Slightly distracted by, you know, other news"

Well, that's certainly a relief.
