This was a regular hang out for me for awhile. Then about 5 years ago my husband lost his job and things got crazy and I had to take care of sick family members. I didn't have time to be online much. But lately I've had more time and picked up reading more and I got to wondering if those folks at It's About Liberty were still around! LOL

We're still here and now, so are you. Missed you.

As I've scrolled through it made me mighty happy to see most everyone else is still around too!

A little slower than it used to be. I blame reality fatigue. Welcome back!

Welcome back LV, you were missed. I see some posts in comments sections of some of the conservative news sites with LadyVirginia as the poster and I think, "where has she been?".
-
you're sweet. Thx
ToddF mentioned reality fatigue. I kind of think that had a part in my absence. With all that was going on in my family I couldn't deal with all that was going on in the world too. I didn't completely drop out but I just didn't devote as much time to reading and discussing like I had before. But now I'm reading more again and thus the desire to reconnect with likeminded people.

That’s a big factor I think. When this whole idea of online forums began, it was really the advent of the proliferation of opinions by everyday people online. It was found nowhere, now it is found everywhere - facebook and twitter being 99% of it. The reality of the dire times we’re in is in your face 7 days a week, and if you’re not on social media, the mainstream media is there to remind us every day how f**ked up everything is.
I spend less time here as a result. Not because I don’t care about you guys or this forum. But because chronicling the downfall of our nation and Western civilization is depressing.

Exactly.

Perhaps IDP we should not look at it as chronicling the decline but preserving the remnants to pass on to those who will need that info.
History used to be passed on through oral repetitive story telling -- the sharing of great ideas.
I see my discussions and saving of books as part of that effort.
