I completely understand and appreciate the reasons to fight the Feds on this but it would be hard to pass up that offer. With that you could set yourself up anywhere in grand style and await the grand collapse and have the last laugh. But I also see the honor in telling bullies to eff off. This is a toughie, but given the area...not sure I would want to make my last stand there. Might be better to move on and pick better ground fight on. Call it a tactical retreat. Still, it in no way excuses the governments behavior!

Air Force wants the case expedited so they can obliterate the property soon rather than later.

If indeed this property was estimated to be worth $13M in 1986, then it seems pretty obvious the government was low-balling the owners. Most people will not get past the headline that these people passed on $5.2M and not care about any details that follow and assume they are nuts, when the real crazies as usual are in the government and getting away with murder right in plain view.
