This kid is a gotcha genius....

Yes he is. Wow, this is huge. Really huge.

FTA:[blockquote]Later in the lunch, Schiller explains that NPR would be better positioned free of federal funding. “Well frankly, it is clear that we would be better off in the long-run without federal funding,” he says. “The challenge right now is that if we lost it all together we would have a lot of stations go dark.”[/blockquote]

I say give him his wish, NOW. Even if they survive, it will draw resources from Leftist coffers. And should we even assume it would survive? Look at Air America. Look at MSNBC. People don't want to consume Leftism in numbers large enough to be supported by the free market.

Jim Hoft @ gatewaypundit reminds us that just yesterday, NPR CEO Vivian Schiller finds "no particular bias at NPR" in comments made at the National Press Club.

NPR's Challege: "Point To Specific Stories" Where We're Biased--We've Been Called "Too Conservative" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77E0NX1Ezbs#)

What say you now, Ms. Schiller, you pathetic waste of skin?

ETA: Just did a google search, and apparently Ron Schiller and Vivian Schiller are not related, if anyone was curious.

On the tapes, Schiller wastes little time before attacking conservatives. The Republican Party, Schiller says, has been “hijacked by this group.” The man posing as Malik finishes the sentence by adding, “the radical, racist, Islamaphobic, Tea Party people.” Schiller agrees and intensifies the criticism, saying that the Tea Party people aren’t “just Islamaphobic, but really xenophobic, I mean basically they are, they believe in sort of white, middle-America gun-toting. I mean, it’s scary. They’re seriously racist, racist people.”

Reel that big fish in.

It would be interesting to see what O'Keefe could do with a broadcast news style budget and staff.

He appears to be well on his way to becoming the Alan Funt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candid_Camera) of politics. Which would be great when you think about it... here is congress critter, as Funt put it, "caught in the act of being himself" and then O'Keefe pops out with a microphone and a cameraman and says, "Smile, you're on Candid Leftist!" and then attempts to get their reaction. If American Idol can be a big success by making fun of yahoos that can't sing then O'Keefe would be a ratings hit with a weekly hidden camera show on libs.

A message from James O'Keefe... (https://www.theprojectveritas.com/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=9) Along with a (long overdue, in my opinion) appeal for funding support. This young man's bravery and audacity should be rewarded and expanded.

Dear American Taxpayer,

We’re back!  Once again, a couple of “kids,” armed with nothing more than an undercover camera, have done what television reporters and newspaper journalists failed for years to do…

…We’ve just exposed the true hearts and minds of NPR and their executives.

As you’ve most likely heard by now, two young investigative journalists trained by my organization, The Project Veritas, went incognito and filmed two top level NPR executives, Ron Schiller and Betsy Liley, blasting Republicans, Tea Partiers, middle America, Jews, and Christians.

Basically, if you’re not an ivory tower educated elite, they attacked you.

Even more shocking -- the NPR executives thought they were meeting with members of the Muslim Education Action Center (MEAC).  The two undercover reporters actually told NPR the group was founded and funded by the Muslim Brotherhood!

By the way, the least offensive thing Schiller said was that NPR “would be better off in the long-run without Federal funding.”

If my belief in the infinite wisdom of the American people holds true, I think Mr. Schiller may get his wish -- sooner than he was hoping.  In fact, I’ve drafted a Petition to Investigate NPR, and I’d like for you to sign it.

And because you signed your name to this petition urging Congress to review NPR’s funding, you’ll receive a transcript of the full two-hour video -- including many explosive quotes you haven’t heard covered by the media.  You’ll also receive emails with breaking news and brand new videos reporting the truth.

My name is James O’Keefe.  You probably remember me as the “pimp” in the ACORN videos or from my other controversial videos.

If there’s one thing I know how to do -- it’s expose corruption.  And I’ve been attacked relentlessly for it.

Now, I’m teaching others how to do what I’ve done through my organization, The Project Veritas.

Already, we’ve shined a light on corruption at ACORN, Planned Parenthood, and the New Jersey Teachers Union.

Just because we’re young and what we do looks inexpensive -- it’s not.  Launching and organization, purchasing equipment, editing video, hiring full time staff, travel, and identifying, building, and training an army of investigators and truth exposers are all expensive.

We’ve made it on our own so far, and we’ve got hundreds of scandals and lies to pursue -- if only we had the money.

I don’t have the personal wealth or means to keep this organization going on my own.  Plus, whenever we stand up to power, power strikes back.  They will try to ruin our reputations and us.  I fully expect to be sued.

It takes money to defend ourselves against these attacks.  I’m hoping you’ll help me with this problem.

Right now, we only have 5 cameras.  Just think about the corruption we could uncover with 100!

Right now, we have just a handful of investigators.  We need more.

Imagine what an army of investigators could uncover if they were in every state, every statehouse, the halls of Congress, the thousands of big government bureaucracies, and everywhere else elites are abusing your tax dollars to stay in power.

I’m counting on your financial support to make this happen.  Just think of it as an investment to clean up corruption -- saving your hard earned tax dollars in the long run.

You don’t need to give much.  Just $25, $50, $100 or more would go a long way in fulfilling my vision for The Project Veritas of a transparent society where the crooks are afraid to be dishonest.

And when sign the Petition to Investigate NPR and receive your transcript of the full two-hour meeting between the NPR executives and The Project Veritas “Islamists,” please contribute what you can.

Yours for the Truth,

James O’Keefe

P.S.  It took me just a matter of days and a Sony mini-cam to uncover and take down ACORN -- something the major billion dollar media networks and journalists failed to do. Now, I’m training young, budding journalists to do the same through my group, The Project Veritas.  As you know, we’ve just exposed the hearts and minds of top-level NPR executives, and we plan to keep going.  That is, if we have the money to do so.

I want to build an army of investigative journalists to seek the truth and expose corruption were in every state, every statehouse, the halls of Congress, the thousands of big government bureaucracies, and everywhere else people are abusing your tax dollars to stay in power.    To do this, we need cameras, editing equipment, staff, and most importantly, we need to train hundreds of investigators.

When you go to the sign the Petition to Investigate NPR and receive your transcript of the full two-hour meeting between the NPR executives and The Project Veritas “Islamists,” please contribute $25, $50, $100 or more so we can keep doing what we do, on an even bigger level.

One last thing….Please forward this email to at least 5 friends and family members so we can build the movement against corruption, greed, and dishonesty at your expense.

To be continued…

Petition and donor form @ theprojectveritas... (https://www.theprojectveritas.com/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=9)

I'm in for $25.

Over at Hot Air, one poster said Schiller has recently accepted a position as "Second Director" at the Aspen Institute. (Some artsy-fartsy Art place for elitists in Aspen, CO.)

So, this is my take on how it went down when Schiller bolted from NPR:

* * *
(Schiller, dictating reply letter to Aspen Institute to his secretary, Linda)

RS: ” . . and in closing, I want to thank you for considering me for the position of Second Director at the Aspen Institute, but my responsibilities and loyalties to National Public Radio at this time are much too pressing and important. Thanks . . . Sincerely . . . Ron.”

(Phone rings)
Linda: “Mr. Schiller. It’s James O’Keefe. He wants to talk to you about the meeting you attended with the MEAC. He is saying something about it being a set-up, and he has a video tape or something.”

RS: “Holy sh!t, Linda! Get the Aspen Institute on the phone pronto! I’m gonna personally tell them that I would love to be their new Second Director . . .”

* * *
What a putz. I'm bettin dollars to donuts that he bailed to escape the coming NPR firestorm.

NPR's reaction? Probably something like this: "We have no comment as Mr. Schiller has taken a position with the Aspen Institute. We cannot comment on personnel matters . . .".

"We are appalled by the comments made by Ron Schiller in the video, which are contrary to what NPR stands for.

NPR's Dana Davis Rehm has told members stations that "there is no connection between the video and [Ron Schiller's] decision to leave NPR."

Beyond lame...quite pathetic.  They are an institution of gutless scumbags who cannot admit the hatred they feel for anyone not a leftist like they are!

Speaking of the Aspen Institute, wasn't there some mini-controversy with them a few years ago? Seems there was some sort of rift in the Left Wing Family over something, and people were refusing to attend the Aspen Institute gala that year. What was it about? I can't even remember. I just recall Barbara Streisand and some other garbage being front and center.

Update Courtesy Slate:

Here's the statement from Dana Davis Rehm, senior VP of Marketing, Communications & External Relations at NPR.

The fraudulent organization represented in this video repeatedly pressed us to accept a $5 million check, with no strings attached, which we repeatedly refused to accept.

We are appalled by the comments made by Ron Schiller in the video, which are contrary to what NPR stands for.

Mr. Schiller announced last week that he is leaving NPR for another job.

Close.

Gotta run to the store and stock up on more popcorn. This story is getting freakin ridiculously awesome.

Schiller moved his resignation up to now.  He is trying to "do the right thing" by NPR or something, I guess...maybe.  This is what he had to say about the whole thing:

[blockquote]“While the meeting I participated in turned out to be a ruse, I made statements during the course of the meeting that are counter to NPR’s values and also not reflective of my own beliefs. I offer my sincere apology to those I offended. I previously resigned from NPR effective May 6th to accept another job. In an effort to put this unfortunate matter behind us, NPR and I have agreed that my resignation is effective today.”[/blockquote]

Bummer.

I hate it when you just go spontaneously insane and start lying to yourself and everyone around you. I mean, it's great at parties and stuff but then someone shows up with a hidden camera and the next thing you know you have to quit your job and start making fake apologies. It seriously messes with your whole day.

Bottom line is that you just can't fix stupid.

Juan Williams weighs in. (http://nation.foxnews.com/national-public-radio/2011/03/08/juan-williams-responds-npr-sting-it-shows-exactly-who-villains-are) And there are videos and stuff at the link...

[blockquote]Former NPR commentator Juan Williams spoke exclusively to FoxNation.com about the NPR sting video, which captured NPR senior executive Ron Schiller in a bigoted and revealing rant about conservatives, Jews and the American taxpayer. “This was an act of incredible condescension,” said Williams. “The rank hypocrisy of his remarks was telling for me. They will say things to your face about how there’s no liberal orthodoxy at NPR, how they play it straight, but now you see it for what it is. They prostitute themselves for money.

Williams said Schiller’s remarks about the Jews dominating the newspaper industry was “outright anti-Semitism,” and labeling Tea Party members “gun-toting” “racists” reveals “their real feelings.” This is how they talk in boardrooms and editorial meetings, explained Williams. “This is how they really feel.”[/blockquote]

Ah, the hypocrisy of the left. Juan was quite comfy with these bottom feeders right up to the point where they fired him for daring to stray a few inches off of the reservation. He can, with a straight face apparently, say this, "They prostitute themselves for money," and not see himself just a few months back. And compounding this stupidity is that no one (and I mean NO ONE) at FNC will call him out on this howler 'cause they are all buds and stuff.

And then when he says this, "They will say things to your face about how there’s no liberal orthodoxy at NPR, how they play it straight, but now you see it for what it is," do you suppose he is including Mara Liason in that blanket indictment? I can see it now...he finished taping and broadcasting that and has to pass Mara in the hall at FNC and says to her, "Of course, I didn't mean you when I said that stuff. You believe me, right Mara?"

The funny thing is that good old Juan is about as close as you are likely to get to a "reasonable left winger."

Pathetic.

And now the other Schiller is gone (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/03/09/npr-president-schiller-resigns/):
[blockquote]
NPR CEO Vivian Schiller has resigned, the radio network announced Wednesday.
The announcement comes a day after a hidden-camera video was released showing a senior NPR executive criticizing the Tea Party as "racist."
NPR condemned the comments, but the company announced Wednesday that the Board of Directors just accepted Schiller's resignation, "effective immediately."
"The Board accepted her resignation with understanding, genuine regret, and great respect for her leadership of NPR these past two years," the board said, according to a statement on NPR's website.
