Title: Veteran Forcibly Dragged from Air Force Ceremony for Mentioning God
Post by: Pandora on June 20, 2016, 08:58:59 AM
For countless years, service members have given the “flag-folding speech” at military and civic events, including retirement ceremonies. (http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/06/20/exclusive-video-veteran-forcibly-dragged-air-force-ceremony-saying-god/)

Quote
Traditionally, this speech explains the colors, symbols, and history of the flag.

The flag-folding speech also contains several religious references, including, “Let us pray that God will reflect with admiration the willingness of one nation in her attempts to rid the world of tyranny, oppression, and misery. It is this one nation under God that we call, with honor, the United States of America.”

The speech closes with, “God bless our flag. God bless our troops. God bless America.”

... Rodriguez retired from the Air Force in 2013 after 33 years of service to his nation. He has a clear and distinctive voice and is frequently asked to deliver the flag-folding speech at retirement ceremonies.

A retiring member asked Rodriguez to give the speech at his retirement ceremony, the squadron commander tried to block it and couldn't, so when Rodriguez took his position and began the speech, "Four uniformed airmen surround him, forcibly seize him, and roughly drag him out of the room, as he continues shouting out his speech over the heads of his assailants."

Watch the vid.

It's getting increasingly tougher not to simply begin striking out, preemptively, and inflicting harm, damage or death to those standing in freedom's way.

Under what justification was this assault justified? It was described as private event, he was invited, yes? By people who know his speech, yes? How come nobody came to his aid? WTF is wrong with people? What a bunch of gutless douchebag. Truly, must be mostly dregs left in the service, those Obama purges really did a number, eh?

Doesn't get any more unamerican than that sh*t!

Not too long ago I found the move The Seige (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133952/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_68 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133952/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_68)) on the web and watched it. It was a pretty good flick and one that hasn't lost its edge eighteen years later. Check it out.

There is a scene in the movie where two agencies go toe to toe. I don't want to do a spoiler so let's just say that they both believed that they were each being the patriots in a sticky situation.

The first time I viewed the video I got pissed that those servicemen would treat this vet the way they did. It looks disrespectful and disgraceful. There was no good purpose in doing what they did and it brought disgrace to the corps and those involved. But the more I saw of it the more I realized that they were following orders that placed them in a sticky situation of their own.

It was the so-called officer who richly deserves our wrath for it is he who issued the order to censor and forcibly remove Senior Master Sergeant Rodriguez - and I bet it was due to some petty grudge.

Some people are perfect a-holes - the rest of us have to practice!

I've said it a lot...too much actually...common sense is no longer common and the concept of what an unlawful order is is just as dead...the only thing missing now is a Hitler (or a Hitlery) to take things to the next fateful step...

It's sad that those troops did not recognize and illegal order.

Being in the military for many years, I would have followed the orders of the commander, especially if I was not closely related to the retiree. For all we know, the people who escorted Rodriguez out did not know him. On top of that, When a high ranking officer give the command then you follow it. I also believe that the retiree did not want to upset the commander. He might have thought he could get in trouble himself. Too many unanswered questions here. Was the commander a total dousche bag.... yep. This story is a little old. I had seen a link to it a couple of months ago. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/04/06/air-force-reserve-investigating-video-showing-retiree-forcibly-removed-from-ceremony.html (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/04/06/air-force-reserve-investigating-video-showing-retiree-forcibly-removed-from-ceremony.html)  A retiring person can still get into trouble, even at his retirement ceremony. Breitbart is a little late to the game and sometimes they like to fudge with the truth to create a narrative they want. Rodriguez was banned from the post by the squadron commander. Don't know why. Looks like he doesn't see eye to eye with the commander. As to Mr Rodriguez right to free speech.... not so much. You can't just show up and say what you please. Military bases can ban people from entering a base if they have no official business there or they feel the person is being punished for a multitude of reasons. I would have hated to have some lefty communist show up at my retirement ceremony and start spewing Karl Marx drivel.
Just putting in my two cents. ::exitstageleft::

All well and good, Miltrainer; however Rodriguez wasn't "some lefty communist show(ing) up at my retirement ceremony and start spewing Karl Marx drivel", it was a former military member who was invited on base to give the traditional "flag-folding" speech at a retirement ceremony.

That's what doesn't pass muster for me...he was "invited"...either by someone who knew him and/or his routine...or by a complete utter idiot who did not know him or his routine...and the latter seems improbable because somebody had to have known him to recommend him...they didn't just pull a name out of a rabbits arse!

Common sense...it isn't all that common anymore.

This sums up my thoughts on the matter: From the story:

Sila said the incident has angered non-commissioned officers who believe the retirement ceremony was marred by the ugly incident.

"Why do you think people are leaving (the Air Force) in droves?" Sila wrote. "Because the guys in the trenches are subjected to nonstop stupidity from commanders who don’t deserve the rank, respect, or support of the people ther’re in charge of.”

Sounds like an Obama appointee got his panties in a wad and ordered him removed.

I can't find the article I was reading - it was weeks ago.

There was bad blood between the two. The commander was one of those politically correct types who doesn't mind if you're a chaplain - as long as you don't say "God". In this case he didn't want Senior Master Sergeant Rodriguez to say the words “God bless our flag. God bless our troops. God bless America.” because some mouth-breather might get offended.

Power-tripping A-hole

Sounds like someone I wouldn't miss if a 7th Century Savage lopped his head off in a fit of unexpected workplace violence...

Of course another Obama-ass-kissing pc/diversity/multi-culti cultist would just fill the vacuum...and the suck would continue unabated...

Those types need to be run out of service asap.  That will get the message out to the rest.

Yup, it appears the Lt.Col. here is 100% asshole!

In his letter, Berry said Roberson’s commanding officer Lt. Col. Michael Sovitsky objected to Rodriguez’ speech because of its religious references but did not have the authority to prevent an invited guest from attending. The letter said Sovitsky told Roberson he did not want Rodriguez to give the speech. Roberson and Rodriguez offered to place warning signs on the door of the auditorium informing people that God would be invoked.

http://www.stripes.com/air-force-to-launch-investigation-into-veteran-s-removal-from-ceremony-for-speech-invoking-god-1.415487 (http://www.stripes.com/air-force-to-launch-investigation-into-veteran-s-removal-from-ceremony-for-speech-invoking-god-1.415487)

The prick had zero authority in this case and issued an illegal order that was cheerfully carried out by the mindless goons who manhandled Rodriguez, period.

This Lt.Col. and the drones who followed him should all get dishonorable discharges and be tossed out on their asses!

But I doubt that anything that sensible will occur...this is no longer my father's Air Force...this will all be flushed down the memory hole...
