This is so silly.

No mention of why silverware was made with silver, just a clapping-monkey obedience to that ever-present me-me feeling...in this case, taste.

And silverware was meant to convey food to mouth, only toddlers and the like suck on spoons...

Silverware became "Silver" because of silvers ability to kill bacteria.
